I would love to have an opportunity to be a ball tester one day. I am patiently waiting my turn.
  2. I really want to try out the 2019 protos! I’ve been playing a Wilson Duo Spin but really would like to try the new Titleist balls. I recently played a Pro V1 and loved it!
  3. Played the 2019 proto red today in the wind. Playing with 2010 AP2 irons. Liked feel, distance and checking on green. Ball felt softer than previous models. Thanks, for choosing me to be part of test group.

Nothing in my mail box so guess I'm out of luck again on the proto balls :(

Played the prototype balls yesterday. I really liked the feel around the greens—chips rolled well but bit when necessary. I felt my drives were longer than normal and very straight (I usually fade the ball but I can draw it when I need it). I really liked the play off the irons. I hit a couple a little off the center and the ball carried better than expected. I was on target most of the day. I think the ball had a lot to do with that. These balls are great and I look forward to seeing how they are embraced by players.

No protos for me or my buddies in Southern cal. Not taking it personally or accusing the mail man of holding back on us.....
  9. I cant wait to receive mine, if its flying higher and feels light off the tee and irons. then I'm happy with that ball. I've gamed the AVX for a week or 2 and found it was a bit heavy of a ball then I normally would game. but I could spin it when needed and it did fly further for me but want higher then the TP5 that are my go too balls. and if Titlest came out with maybe call it a AV ball that flew jus as far but felt more lighter after impact and softer feel. then I could see my self gaming that ball. but how did it do into wind, down wind and cross wind? that's why I love the TP5 ball cause cross winds it dont move for me and down and into it's not playing different and it flys so high which I like.
  10. Got my prototypes last week. Played them today. Great ball. Ball flight is high, but not abnormal as I play the ProV1X. Biggest difference is the amount of spin created with my irons. I don’t usually spins the ball back on the greens, but this ball spun back on virtually every green I hit (even on the fringe). Feel was great. Love the ball
  11. Tried the new prov1 (black number?) in 45 degree, 15 mph wind conditions. The balls hold up well with the weather and can give me consistent shot making. Good firmer feel off the tee that gives distance without sacrificing the penetrating ball flight. Very responsive around the greens as expected. Overall good new touch on the long game with the classic short game feel and control.
  12. I got my prototypes last week. I play proV1’s and these did not disappoint. My spin rate seemed higher with these balls than my proV’s. Long off the tee, great feel on irons and chipping. Played 10 holes with one ball and It showed no signs of distress right up till the 4” rough stole it from me.
    Another quality ball from Titleist.
    Thanks Titleist!

i play the prov1X and today played nine holes with the red proto. The ball seems to launch higher off the driver but distance was the same, hit my Prov1X and the proto on each driver hole. The proto seems to fly very straight with the irons and a little longer. It was softer to chip with and didn't seem to check as fast. The ball is softer with the putter. I liked the ball over all and it didnt show any wear at all but i would have liked it to be a little harder, one of the reasons i use the ProV1x or the Prov1. Will try it again on Saturday. Titleist thanks for sending

I played another 18 with the proto red, really like the ball, wish it was a little harder when putting, seems softer than the current X. Could I please get a sleeve of the proto black or will it be softer still? Thanks in advance for the answer or a sleeve of the black ones to try

I am always hopeful that today is the day, the mailman brings me a package...
It is amazing that Titleist is willing to randomly send out to its members to test, the next year's prototypes.

  16. I got home from a trip and found the test balls in my mail. Ive only hit a few iron shots. chips. and putts thus far. The weather is getting cold so not really my choice when below 70 so I am wairing for vacation in December to give accurare feedback. I do see mid 70s next week here do I should get some play in with them. Appreciate the sleeve!!

I played with the 2019 Proto balls yesterday miss round. Started off the day with a srxn Z-Star and after 8 holes of hitting the ball well switched over. I wanted to know what these were like on a day I was compressing the ball well and hitting my usual shots.

First shot was a driver that stuck sightly high toe and my immediate response was not good. I felt like I'd hit a rock (57 degrees out but not THAT cold). Ball flew okay but I'd thought it may have gone just OB (Blind landing area). Played a srxn for the provisional. Walking up to where I thought it may have been revealed that it was likely lost. Starting over to the provisional, I spotted a ball about 80 yards further up. It was my Proto.

I was amazed because I didn't feel I had gotten that much distance with the mishit but who else would have played a 2019 Proto with a line in blue market on it? Despite the not great feel off the driver I went on to play the rest of the round with it and it still looks new. Cover held up and my woods all gained about 10-15 yards. Starting to wonder if it's USGA legal (it is a prototype, after all), but man these things are long AND I was able to spin a couple wedge shots back - something unheard of for a typical distance ball.

Great post! I liked the AVX when I tried it but I still love the ProV1 most of all. I would love to try out these proto balls at the end of the season here in Massachusetts. I’m looking forward to buying the new ball and maybe even trying the yellow! Thanks for everything you do for TeamTitleist!
  19. I have a few thoughts on these prototypes.

I tend to play the pro V one X or competitors version of that type a golf ball. I prefer the X because it reduces the spin and since I draw the ball naturally which can be an issue if the ball spins too much. These Proto type golf balls produced a very controllable draw off the Tee while producing the same type of yardage.

In regards to my long irons the ball flight was a little bit higher than I normally hit but that’s more OK with me as long as I maintain the same distance. Where I really saw a big difference was with my wedges. The ability to hit dried out greens and still only roll a couple of feet from impact is impressive.

this golf ball felt more like a version that was between a pro V one and a pro V one X.

I took the 2019 Proto balls out today for a round, loved the new balls. They felt great of the tee, about the same distance as the PROV1 balls I'm currently playing. These balls seemed to give a little more distance with my longer irons, but I really liked the soft feel chipping and putting. I also liked the results from the any of my mishits, got good distance and direction. Can't wait for these to come out next year!!
  21. Do I received the Red Proto last week and got to play it today for the first time. I play the V1x, and I have to say this ball was awesome. Off the tee it felt really good, nice trajectory and equal or greater distance most of the drives.

With the fairway woods it was just as long, and had very good roll.

Irons were as consistent as the V1x with just enough spin and hold.

Putts were very smooth with great feel off the putter.

Gave one to my buddy to try who is a low handicap , he plays the AVX and really liked the feel of the ball.

So we played at our home course in Bakersfield, and I shot the best round I have ever at the course.

Will be playing the other ball tomorrow in a tourney, its definitely a ball I would play.
