Ok team titleist here is my opinion on the 2019 prototypes.
Off the tee: they are great , lowered spin rate (trackman) got more distance
From the fairway: they had great flight and distance very easy to shape
Around the green and with in 100 yards: didn’t like the feel around the greens . Had really no spin around the greens at all.

Overall great ball but would not make it my gamer . I tested these next to my gamer prov1 and also prov1x and avx. I have better reaction around the greens with the prov1 and prov1x . But the flight of the prototypes off the tee outstanding.

Would love everyone’s opinions that have tested them .

Off the tee: It was really hot with the driver. I didn't expect this much distance with my 917 D2. My flight higher than I'm used to, but with more distance.

Long irons/fairway metals: On a short par 4 where I try to drive the green. I used my 3 metal and drove it to the front of the green. I used the 3 metal for control and was pleased with the ball flight and rollout.

Short game: The ball seemed to check very well on short shot around the green. Wedges into the green seem to have very stable flight. I sometime have trouble getting my gap wedge to the flag. No problem with this ball, most were pin high.

Putting: Soft feel on putting but not to soft. The ball seem to hug the ground and stay on line better.

Got the #2019Proto balls. Loved them. Had the expected nice feel around the greens, held true lines on putts. Noticed a bit of the ball knuckling out of the air with my 3 iron but that was the only club it did it with. Off the tee was long and straight and came off the driver face hot. Truly a Great ball.

Played a round yesterday with the proto 2019. Came off the club well with minimal dispersion which is hugh for my game. I agree it was a durable cover which is big for me because I tend to find trees from time to time. I wish you could develop a ballthat floats, because I had a little problem with that yesterday. I like the ball alot.

What ball in your line-up is now the official rain ball?

Current Ball: ProV1
Tested: 2019 ProV1 Proto

Conditions: Sunny, mid-50s, Soft/Wet.

Driver: Ball flight was higher with the Proto Ball, carry distance of each ball was within 5-10 yards on each drive. Conditions were wet so no roll and was able to determine where the ball landed.

Long Irons: Only used a long iron once off the tee and can’t say I noticed or felt anything different.

Mid Irons: This is where I noticed and felt the most difference. The flight was similar to current flight but the Proto ball seemed to hit and check or hit, check and spin back a few feet. On several approaches, the Proto ball was sitting 3 or 4 feet behind the ball mark compared to the current ProV1 siting within a foot of the mark.

Rough: Had two good looks at the green out of the rough with a mid-iron and the Proto ball outperformed the current ProV1. The shots were from just under 180 and 160 and each time, the ball held the green and the flight was ideal. The current ProV1 seemed to run out a little bit more, could have been because of a slightly different lie but

Wedges: I didn’t see a serious discrepancy. The Proto was closer on 3/5 shots but really splitting hairs.

Green Side: Had six opportunities and overall, each ball was comparable.

Putting: No differences, each ball feels soft off the face on well and poorly struck putts.
Durability. Proto held up well. It struck a tree solidly and left a small scuff and yellow coloring. Also the Proto Ball held up well being struck 12 times with Gap, Sand or Lob. Some scuffing did occur with full shots from the Gap and Sand Wedge.

Oh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Titleist Fairy bring me some of the 2019 golf balls to try!

I received a sleeve of the black numbered 2019Proto balls. I have played two rounds with the same ball. It holds up extremely well. My round today was in a 20 MPH wind. To me, the ball handled the wind better than my regular ProV1"s. I like the feel with the woods, iron and the putter. I'm sold. When will these balls hit the marketplace?

Got my 2019 proto Red last week had a chance to play 9 tonight my thoughts on the ball is , I played 1 hole with the proto Red then I went back to my old prov1x the ball has a softer cover and less spin then 1x best thing about the ball was the feel loved putting with the proto Red and iron play off the driver I couldn’t tell a difference , going on a golf trip to Pinehurst on Sunday will get a better feel playing multiple days will get back

How do I get a sleeve of these balls? Are folk randomly selected?

I played the black 2019 proto. Loved the ball. Played very similar to the Pro V. Seemed straighter off the driver, but carried far too. Ball flight seemed a little bit higher than what I normally hit. Check a little more than usual around the greens, even out of rough. It was a soft ball that held up well, but I did cut one coming out of the trap. I think I trapped a small stone between the face and the ball which caused the small cut. Felt great off the putter face as well.

Is there any way to tell what model it was that I played? I definitely want to buy them when they come out.

I'm always thankful to receive prototype balls, and I think it's so cool that Titleist involves mere mortals like us in their testing process.
Hopefully my mailbox will surprise me!

Not exactly sure if coincidence or not, but received the new 2019 Proto balls and shot a 76! I haven't been in the 70's in a while. The ball was definitely a little hotter off the face with driver. The trajectory was a little lower than normal as well. It stopped great and didn't spin back as much as my normal Pro V1. Only issue I had was with wedges. The ball seemed to fly further than normal for me and I flew a couple of greens. Thank goodness my chipping worked. The ball rolled well on my bent grass greens. I would recommend this ball. Felt more like a Pro V1x to me. Thanks. Brandon

I played two rounds this past weekend with the #2019Proto Black balls.

In more wind than usual, the balls seemed to spin less and hold their line better. I did not notice any significant difference in distance versus the 2018 ProV1 and the feel off the putter and around the greens was similar again.

Durability may be a bit better, but again not glaringly obvious.

Weather permitting, I'll be testing the final ball on Thursday to confirm my thoughts.

Is all the team titleist members getting the new proto 2019 ball.. I haven't got mine yet and I really really want use it I have been hearing good things about this ball and in getting very anxious... Hope I can get one

Thanks @titleist for the #2019proto golf balls. They were a bit harder than your Pro-V1s that are out now and didn’t feel as soft. Distance wise, they flew further than I would normally hit with a higher ball flight then I normally hit on my driver and irons. Also checked up pretty well with the chip shots and short irons onto the greens. Good putting feeling. Overall thought they were nice but not as soft as the current #prov1 or #avx balls. Thank you for the sleeve! Didn’t lose any today either!
