Thank you for the opportunity to test both the proto 388 (ProV1) and proto 348 (ProV1x). I’ve played both balls all week, alternating every 9 holes. I like both balls, but prefer the ProV1 due to it being slightly longer off the tee. I’ve been playing the ProV1 for the last year and while both balls are excellent, plan to keep playing the ProV1. Approach shots into greens were consistent with both balls. Both balls performed well around the greens with good spin and feel. I didn’t notice a significant difference in spin on chips and pitches between the 2 balls. Both balls had excellent feel on putts.

I've since had the chance to play rounds with both balls and though I've previously been fitted for ProV1X, I preferred playing with the 388's. I liked the feel and sound they made on full shots and putting. Scores were better with the 388's as well. Thanks again!

First of all, I would like to thank Titleist for giving me the opportunity to test these balls.

I have played the Pro V1 for a couple years now and always liked the feel and play of it. I recently was also given Taylor Made TP5 to try out. So, this was a great comparison. I don't think I ever noticed a difference between the Pro V1 and the Pro V1 x before (I probably never paid attention either).

I was able to play on a few courses that were not busy these past two weeks, so I was able to hit 2 or 3 balls of the tee to compare them.

I was the most amazed with the new Pro V1 x. The feel and the yardage gained was amazing. I gained an average of 10 yards of the tee with great accuracy and control. In the short game I also liked the spin and the control.
Both the Pro V1 and the Pro V1 x play great around the greens with a good feel and spin control.

Played multiple rounds with both balls in various conditions (from wet to dry and windy as well). Overall, the Pro V1 x had a better consistency in all conditions. I was definitely impressed by the distance gained with the Pro V1 x.

Both prototype balls were fantastic off the tee and had a lot of pop to them. The 388 (Pro V1) was a bit shorter off the tee with lower trajectory, while the 348 (Pro V1x) was longer off the tee with higher trajectory. As for iron shot approaches to the green, the 348 can spin back, but the 388 spins back more upon landing the green. The cover durability was better than previous generations (of the two models, I normally play Pro V1). The covers were barely scratched with wedge shots. Both balls are soft feeling off the putter, with the 348 being slightly firmer than the 388. The 388 has a slightly higher pitch sound versus the 388 with a lower pitch. The 388 has more spin than the 348 with iron shots.

So fun to get these in the mail and have the opportunity to try! Really love that Titelist is recognizing and reaching out to female golfers— including a 10 handicap like me!

I was able to play each ball two different times. I normally play the ProV1. Several years ago I compared it with the ProV1x but haven’t played or even tried anything other than the ProV1 in a while.

I actually liked them both but did notice the difference and in the end preferred one— which after reading other comments I guess is the 388 and ProV1 and would make sense but I actually didn’t know one was ProV1 and ProV1x when I played them.

The 388 felt great and also very similar to my regular ball both times I played it— if anything, a bit better than my current ball (ProV1). maybe a little farther off the tee and otherwise good spin with wedges and nice feel on the greens. The second time I played the 388 it was a lot windier and it felt really good—seemed like the wind was barely affecting my shots except for distance when dead into it.
I’m glad I got to play it twice and in different conditions.

I noticed a difference and overall firmer feel with the 348. Seemed mostly the same as my regular ball (ProV1) off the tee which was good and I didn’t have as much wind as the one round with the 388 but felt like it also held up well in a breeze. I definitely noticed more spin with the 348 than I’ve ever gotten with my wedges (which was kinda fun), but the biggest difference for me between the two was on the greens and the 348 felt so hard off the putter which I don’t like as much, and ultimately determined my preference between the two.

So if I’m understanding all of this correctly, I’ll continue to get and play the ProV1 and when the new ones come out they’ll be even better than the ones I currently love…???

Played yesterday - been chomping at the bit to play after shoulder injury- thanks Titleist for including me in the white box testing. I’m a 12.5 HCI - driver club head speed approx 80 - 180- 200 yd avg drive. 63 years old. Play about twice a week and practice or lesson once a week. Played 388 on front nine. Good weather conditions. Did not feel like I hit it as far off the tee but straight. Hit solid fairway wood shots and still had good check on my chip shots. No discernible difference on putting.
348 on the back nine felt longer on my tee shots but several off the fairway. Twice the trajectory was way too high. (Swing mechanics being an obvious variable). Odd day in that I was in the sand 6 times but it gave me the chance to test and I was able to get closer to hole with 348 out of the sand. Still no difference in putting.
I frequently play with a Titleist TruFeel mainly because they are less expensive and I have two Aces with that ball. I also play with a Calloway soft triple track for the markings.
I noticed there were different size dimples on the 348. I’m not a V1 or X expert or purist so it might be blasphemy to prefer an alignment aid but sometimes it’s nice to pull a ball out of the box already marked.

I was so happy to receive the new Prototype golf balls to test! I am a 4 handicap female who plays the regular Pro V 1. I absolutely LOVE the new one! I got more distance & the feel around the greens is consistent. I also tried the ProV 1X and really liked that.......could play that one also!

Thank you for the opportunity to test the Pro V1 and Pro V1x proto balls! I have played the Pro V1 for the past few years but previously played the Pro V1x, even scoring an ace several years ago. I did not have another Pro V1x with me to compare distance, but I found the new prototype to have a higher flight path and great spin control on the greens.

I like the softer feel of the Pro V1 proto. It compares well to the existing version and my distance is slightly longer with the proto. I noticed I gained about 10 extra yards off the tee with the proto when hitting into a 10-12 mph head wind. I enjoyed playing with both balls and look forward to using them when they become available!

BTW, you can order through Titleist and have the alignment added for a small up-charge. They have several you can choose from and even get the TT logo in an alignment version.

I only had the opportunity to play twice - Minnesota late fall weather is unpredictable! And then there was a foot surgery bringing a hard stop to the season. The ProV1 experience seemed similar to other ProV1, which is my usual choice. I'm curious about the ProV1x, and look forward to playing with them, and comparing more, when I'm in So Cal this winter!

Thank you for allowing me to test the new ProV1 (388 proto) and ProV1x (348 proto) balls. I was able to test the 348 proto this weekend and wow, distance and feel around the greens was definitely noticeable. Didn’t feel much difference with the 388 proto from what I have played in the past. I shot my lowest round ever (69) on Saturday using the 348 proto. As soon as the new balls are released, I will be stocking up!!

With a low round like that, you have the V1x in your future.

Just wanted to update-
First sorry about the duplicate post. Like I said I’m 63 and on my phone it stated that it had not been posted.
I played another round in 55 degrees in Texas and it was quiet on the course so I was able to play both the Titleist Tru-feel (which I was buying) and the Pro V1 proto on each shot. I alternated which I used first since the “B” player frequently hits better. The Pro V1 was so much longer, more accurate, and better around the greens time after time.
I’ll be buying these in the new year and excited for them. Thanks to all!!
