  1. Hey everyone, I’m looking to buy SM8 Vokey Wedges from a guy that lives close at a really great price. Just wanting to know if anyone has any tips on how to spot fake SM8’s. Again, it’s a great deal and I just want to make sure they are truly Vokey Wedges.... anything will help on spotting fakes. I have him sending me a ton of pics as we speak.

The current street price is $159.99. Unless this is a individual seller with only 1-3 personal wedges with buyer's remorse (and that is a judgement call if that story is reliable), a price too good to be true is just that. Something will be amiss.
Some of the fakes are so good, you almost need to hold an authentic one side by side to see a minor flaw. Or hit them side by side.
  3. Here are the pictures the seller sent over? Buy or Run?

If the price is really really good, then chances are, it is a fake.
  5. Simply put, if it is a great deal, they are fakes. No deals on new Titleist product.
  6. It looks like he put a zip-lock bag over the wedges when he took photos of them, the cellophane on a vokey is nearly air tight - not only would i not buy from him, i would report him unless he can provide a copy of his receipt- easily attainable for him. If not then clearly fakes.

    Completely agree with Dave M.
The wrapping is always air right on Titleist and Vokey clubs.
    Don’t do it.
  8. the "wings" beside the BV don't seem to flow very well together

This was asked on the Facebook page and the consensus is that they are not real. The price you stated on Facebook was WELL below the current wholesale price. With that in mind, no Titleist account will sell below their cost. I know that we will not!

Think I saw this post on FB and it was determined that they were fake. You questioned him on the phone and he hung up, correct?

Look closely. The micro grooves between the regular grooves are supposed to be straight, not rounded (like the toe portion). Your 4th picture indicates rounded micro grooves over the entire face. Those rounded grooves should stop where the straight regular grooves begin. That would create what looks to the naked eye as two different textures on the face of the club as seen in the pic from my SM8 below. The toe is one texture while the hitting area is different. Your picture indicates the texture is all the same. It's possible it's just the way the picture was taken, but in my opinion, I would say something's not right.

Not a specialist my self, but it does not look right, I have not gotten an SM8 yet, but remembering older lines, SM5. SM6 and SM7, the grooves are not right, I mean they do not look like the traditional Vokey lines.
I could be wrong and would not like to spoil your business, but I would run, I rather pay full price for one I know is real than save a few bucks for something that might be real.
  13. They just came out a month ago. Why would anyone be selling them at a discount? Makes no sense. I would not go anywhere near them.
