We have been getting slammed this winter with tons of rain out here in Carlsbad. What is you favorite wet course Wedge Setup???

    Cheers, Dr. K

I find myself hitting less sand wedges, using the pitching wedge or 9 iron when its soft. Even chipping with the hybrid and putter when close to the green. Great that we are finally getting some rain. you know it will stop right after the Farmer's Open and stay dry until December (except for the "June Gloom" coastal fog).

We got a record breaking 60+ inches of rain this past year here in Virginia. My buddies and I lamented the fact that we got no roll out on drives this year! I did what Dale did, I clubbed up and gripped down to hit a little spinny punch to hit, bounce and stop. My 54 and 60 was just not a high percentage shot with how wet the ground was.

I'm sure that both Dale and Dr. K may have played Oaks North in Rancho Bernardo at one time or another. The greens there stick like glue and I have often found myself using a 9 iron or PW around the greens. A number of holes play uphill with two tier greens. Nasty City (National City) I usually play 56 or 64. Riverwalk rarely use a lob wedge.

M and S grinds. If I actually play a course with (only) sand bunkers, I have a K grind from dry bunkers - not usual in the Upper Midwest.
  6. Definitely taking this advice.... my chipping and pitching is pretty awful in wet conditions. Time to grip down and club up a little instead of tryna hit that same old lob wedge shot

More bump and runs with a 54, a 60 isn't going to spin at all, so its not worth the added shot to score. More about watching the greens and runoffs.
