  1. Who is playing thicker grips on their wedges only. A few guys I play with have substanial bigger grips on their wesge than the rest of their clubs. They say they like the added weight and it takes the hands out of it more.

    Thoughts?

I use midsize Golf Pride MCC Plus 4 grips starting with my wedges up to my driver. I like maintaining the same feel and consistency on every club. My putter is a Golf Pride Tour SNSR 104CC, which is also a soft midsize grip. The guys I play with seem to feel the same way. In recreational and tournament play I have not noticed players using different size grips, except maybe in a driver, or maybe the large putter grips. But again, it is all about personal choices. All my clubs are Titleist, of course. =)
  3. Chuck,
    Couldn't agree more...
MCC Plus 4 with Standard + 1 wrap from driver down.
I started with my 3 & 4 T-MD irons and have worked my way through the set
Putter has the fatter Scotty grip that it arrived with - Thought it a bit presumptuous to contradict Mr Cameron given his expertise in the field of putters, but maybe I'm being a bit too deferential.

I like my Golf Price MCC grips in midsize, for my SM7 wedges and AP2/3 irons. I feel I have much better control with these clubs using the midsize grip. I used to play all my clubs in this midsize grip and had been for many years. Recently, however, I tried and found I seem to get a little more speed through the ball with my driver using a standard MCC grip with two wraps, so have since changed my 3W and 19* hybrid to the same set up. It's probably only psychological, but since golf is such a mind game, I'm giving this new set up a shot this year. At least to start out.
  5. I've found the older I get, the more my hands fatigue and get numb. I had the bright ideal to try the Golf Pride CP2 Midsize grips on all my clubs. I absolutely love them. It opened my hands up due to the larger diameter and I don't have the same fatigue in my hands. It also helps me to have better control and feel over the club. Amazing what a subtle difference can make!

A lighter grip will help take the hands out.

I'm the opposite, I have MCC standard +2 wraps on all other clubs but standard Tour Velvet grips on my SM7's. Just feel like I have a better feel through my hands that way.

Was talking to my teaching pro this morning about this subject and he said that some go with small grips with the wedges. Again, taking the hands out of play, more about feel.
  9. Bill,

I play the Golf Pride Tour Wraps on all of my clubs. Mid-size on everything but my putter which has the jumbo. I like the feel of all of the grips being the same size for consistency. The putter is jumbo to help take my hands out of the stroke. I have used these grips for years. I know that they are not as sophisticated as some but I find that they last for a really long time although I'm sure that I don't play or practice as much as a lot of the players on this sight. When they get a little slick all I do is rub some water on them, dry them off, and they are as "grippy" as new. Besides, they aren't quite as expensive as some of the other grips and if I don't have to replace them but every few years, that gives me more money to save up for a new driver (which is my next goal). Fairways and greens.

I got all my clubs regripped with MCC +4 Align (except putter obviously) and I love the feel of my wedges the most
