  1. Hi guys,

As the clocks fall back this weekend, just wondering what everyone’s goals are this winter? What will we all be working on?

Mine will be, focusing on distance control on chips.

    Play well.

My plan is to get a membership for the 2 local par 3 courses and use that to build up my short game and iron play.

I used to play 36 holes a day on the par 3 and my short game was unbeatable, at the moment the only shots I have in the bag are the duff, the chunk and the blade!

Winter is a great time to practice when it's too dark/cold/wet to get out for a round.

I too am gona try and sharpen up the short game I’m reasonably happy with the putting but my chips and pitching are atrocious.
  4. Irons are working exceptionally well but the Driver's off the boil at present...
Guess professional assistance is required this winter!!

I know how you feel JT, I think my first lesson this winter will be for the driver. At my iron fitting, the Titleist fitter told me my path to face was way off with the driver and to be honest he did try and help me but I’ll too many shouts of FORE!

Short game for me. Need to be better from 50 yards and in and also want to improve my range of shots from that distance.

    Evening,

So first off I’ll be concentrating on my 3 Wood off the tee and then of the fairway. Problem I have with that is my range is so wet so hoping it drys out soon.

Secondly like everyone else, Short game needs a massive improvement, Wedge play in and around the green, Bunker play and also spending a good hour on my putting as well. 5FT 10FT trying to hole more and anything longer just trying to aim within a dustbin lid and cut out the 3 putts.

This season has been a nightmare for me and my golf just mainly not getting out much due to family commitments but I’m determined to get things going again and get my handicap back down to 9.

Good luck everyone with there Game improvements.

Anyone from the Peterborough area who fancy’s some range time I’m a member at Elton Fruze GC message me on here and I’d be happy to meet up.

    Mallow,

Like most, I hope to spend some time on chipping and also focus on putting alignment too. Want to play some regular links golf this winter, firm ground conditions to keep iron game ticking over.

    Grindelwald,

First of all I want to recover my back from the pain I had during the season - at the end it even hurt just lying in bed..
Apparently it was caused that my upper body was too close to the ball at impact, so I will be working on a better setup over the winter...
As living in Switzerland (course closed as covered in snow) my training will be focused on the long game. Also I will concentrate on increasing stability and power in the gym

Trying to play as much as possible but also taking better care of myself over the winter. Previous sports injuries are seriously impacted by the cold so making sure that I'm in slightly better physical condition will help to alleviate some of that.

Now if only people would stop putting those mince pies in front of me; it's still only October.
  11. Gym program to get generally fit and keep up the TPI work at home.

Have started a series of monthly lessons to work on the game for next season. Missed most of this year with back, hip and knee issues. Really want to consolidate the small progress made with the driver, but really want to get the fundamentals of ball position and alignment nailed.

Just keeping the timing in the swing for me , cause you can’t get a true strike off winter tee and fairway mats
