Vokey Experience at Woburn

    I was very lucky to experience a chance in a lifetime wedge fitting at Woburn Golf Club with the One and only Bob Vokey. Bob had lots of stories to tell and gave out great advice on the short game.

    Will,Richard and the rest of the team spent 2 hours of their time between me and Tom. Mark Crossfield was a surprise to be there. We were Introduced to all the team before heading to the Marquis range to find our correct gapping from the irons in the bag. After the nerves were settled we started hitting the new SM7s trying different grinds and bounces in various lofts, the guys knew there stuff and after a few tweaks they quickly sorted what I needed and I was actually pretty consistent with all 3 wedges they fitted. We then were taken to the Tavistock short game area, this was WOW !! Perfect for practicing every short game shot imaginable. After struggling chipping around the green they gave me some tips to practice. I managed to chip one in and BV signed the ball,Tom also chipped one in and BV said he's only seen 31 in all the events he's done so we done good... They had me hitting 54 & 58 out the bunkers to close pins with little ease. We then regrouped for photos and signatures and returned to the Poulter Room. Wedges ordered awaiting arrival !!

    Lucky Man...had the same experience in February but without BV and Mark Crossfield being there.... Enjoy the wedges just getting used to mine.

    Hi Gary,

    I saw the stories on the various social media platforms yesterday and it look like an awesome experience. Have been lucky enough to visit there with TT earlier this year and agree that the facilities are fantastic.
    The icing on the cake must have been meeting Bob himself, getting to pick his brains for even a short while would beinvaluable when you consider who he has worked with over the years.

    Was great to meet you and put a face to the screenname!

    All I can do is echo your comments, what a day it was! Bob was very gracious with his time and knowledge, he genuinely has a passion and love for what he does. I feel like it doesn't matter whether you are a pro or a weekend golfer he gave 110% and his only focus was to help you improve your game.

    Luck man....I had the fitting experience at Woburn in February, but minus BV and Mark Crossfield. Still getting used to the SM7's as so different to my previous wedges.

    I subscribe to Marks channel and watched you a bit with Bob Vokey. I myself am very envious of you, and was quite elated to see Bob out there helping golfers such as yourself, and not just in the studio or shop or helping just the pro's. Makes me feel good and confident when I purchase Vokey design wedges.
