Folks, I will be travelling from the great white north to Northern San Diego week of the 25th of Feb and am looking for a few courses to play. I am flying into LAX and driving down so looking for a "warm-up" course between LA and Del Mar to hit on the way down and shake off the cob-webs. Something also for afternoon Tues near Encinitas (+/- 30 mins). Also looking for some golf early to mid afternoon on Thurs and a nice course for the Friday.

Recommendations welcome +/- 45 mins of Del Mar. Jason

Aviara is always in the best shape and hosts a LPGA event.

Torrey Pines North will be a fun test, the South will be undergoing renovations.

Maderas is also a top tier course in the range you're looking at.

Arrowood is very fun and reasonably priced.

Pechanga is just about an hour, but well worth it and you can hit a winery or two.

The Crossings isn't my favorite, but will do if you cant get on any of the above.

Todd you have to include Goat Hill Park on your list...Great place to break the rust off!!!
    The Crossings is good.
    Encinitas Ranch is Decent.
    Arrowood is an Excellent Track.

    Cheers,

Never played The Goat, but have heard good things...

True Barona is one of the best in county, but that's going to be a nice (long) drive from north county.

Thanks Todd, I appreciate the assist. I have played both Torrey North and Aviara (enjoyed both) but not Maderas. Definitely on my to do list. Crossings is punching the greens next Monday so I will likely avoid. Will look into Arrowood - I am not familiar with it so will do some research.

Again - thanks for the input - Jason

From LAX to Del Mar.... High ends are Trump National, Pelican Hill, Monarch Beach. Reasonably priced are Shorecliffs or San Clemente.

Another recommendation for Arrowood. Goat Hill is fun, just go into it planning to not take it serious and you'll have a good time. Aviara is pricey (borderline over priced) but a great track. It's more inland but technically still North County, Rancho Bernardo Inn is a good track as well. The Crossings is kind of a weird layout, some of the holes don't make a ton of sense but it's usually always in great shape. If you have connections with a private club you can see if your club pro can pull a favor and you get you on to some of the private clubs, there's some primo courses in the North County area, specifically Del Mar but they're private.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I have a plan - now for some good weather! I will let you know how things went after I return. Jason
