So now my for score season is over, I get off work Thur morning, get a couple hrs sleep and head out to the course. Shoot 78, I hit 6 fairways the misses were close except 1 and that's the hole I get a birdie, 9 GIR with 1-3putt. I'm 3 of 9 par saves, not good, but its my putting not wedge play. And my putting problem was mostly distance control.

Since my full swing has been good most of the year, looks like next year I'll be playing the back. That will put some real pressure on my short game, and my driver. And in another year, hopefully, I'll be ready to start playing some senior amateur events.

Its been awhile since I got out. weather.com was wrong again today, supposed to 47 and sunny at 10am. Left the house it was 43, got to the course a little after 9am, I think the temperature dropped and still no sunshine.

The plan was to play 18 holes, but temperature cut it to 9.

Played the back, took 4 tee shots to get off hole 10, then on the green and 2 putt. Not counting first 3 tee shots I got a par.

Took 2 shots to get off 11 tee, nice 3 wood, poor pitch, poor pitch, nice 20ft putt for another cheater par.

12 hit the green 2 putts

13 (my most hated hole on the course) 400y straight away, trees left and right, ob left, hit right, 3 iron around trees left of green, nice pitch, tap in par.

14 missed fw, missed grn, decent pitch, 6ft putt

15 hit fairway, thin 9 iron which rolls on, 2 putt

16 missed grn, poor pitch 2 putt bogey.

17 fairway, missed grn, nice chip, tap in

18 wild tee shot in 10 rough clear to grn, another bad shot next to 10 tee, pitch on grn, 2 putt for a par.

Used 3 wood for tee shots, except par 3's.

Except for the extra tee shots on 10 and 11 I'm quite happy. Iron play was ok, not thrilled with my pitching, putting was good.

Wish it would be this easy during score season.

I guess no one else being on the course really helps. It was hit the ball, go hit it again, no waiting for anyone else to play, no searching for balls, no waiting for a group ahead, except for the cold it was nice.

When the putt's are dropping so is the score .... work on putting and chip shots durring the down time and it will really pay off

Putting and short game has been decent.

Today had a rough start with doubles on 1 and 2, 2 tries each to get on the green.

3 and 4, good putts for par.

    5, first gir, 3 putted

6 and 7 nice pitches for tap in pars

8 a par 3, I just put myself in a bad spot off the tee and almost made the long par putt.

9 only fairway I missed, about 2ft right, hit the green 2 putted.

No liberties off the tee like yesterday.

So I was 4 of 7 par saves, not bad statistically, 2 doubles because of short game ain't too good.

    6 of 7 fairways, 2 GIR(thats bad)

Weather is supposed to be really good tomorrow, have 18 planned, getting there early to get my short game warmed up before we start.

Goals, keep it in play off the tee(just not in trouble), play my irons a little better(hit more greens and maybe get some birdies), keep my short game and putting decent. Should be a good round.

James if you've been playing, tell us how its been. Anybody else just jump right in.

"Goals, keep it in play off the tee(just not in trouble)," ===== failure

"play my irons a little better(hit more greens and maybe get some birdies)," ========9 GIR no birdies

"keep my short game and putting decent." =========did pretty good.

1 Quad, man thats bad, started with a bad tee shot (5 wood), then a stupid attempt to advance the ball, then a stupid attempt to go for the green(ob), then smarten up a little.

1 Triple, started with a bad tee shot, then hook into the woods, smartly pitch out, hit over the green, pitch on 2 putt

1 double, started with a bad tee shot, 2 more close to green, pitch on almost make it, 1 poor putt, then in.

2 bogies started with bad tee shot

    2 bogies bad putt

1 bogey bad 2nd 3rd 4th shots 2 putts(300y drive dead center of the fairway) tried to reach in 2 went over into the woods, didn't get on, then didn't get anywhere close to the hole, 2 putt.(frustration set in, this was 18th hole, 13 and 14 were missed putts inside my "good chance" range, 15 was the double, 16 was a bad putt bogey, 17 was the quad)

2 pars (par 5's) started with bad tee shots, both reached the green in 3 and 2 putted.

Used driver 3 times, 1 good, 2 trouble

35 putts, no 3 putts, 3 bad putts missed inside my "should always make it" range, 3 putts missed inside my "good chance" range, the rest were outside my range but they looked like they were going in then just miss. You'd think if you are that close all the time a few would drop.

    Weather was great today.

According to weather.com I might get to play Monday and Wednesday, after that, unless we have a mild winter, that will probably be all until March.
