Those of us fools who live in the Northeast had been feeling pretty good, maybe even cocky to think we were going to get a nice early Spring, with record warm temps the last few weeks, ground clearing of snow, and courses talking of opening over the next couple weeks. NOW.....a giant blizzard about to hit tomorrow, snow to be measured in feet maybe, and all our plans set back at least 2-3 weeks or worse. Those of you lucky to live in the promised area of 12 months of golf, please take pity on us. We'll survive, wearing our Titleist winter caps, and Titleist mittens while shoveling, and watching Arnie's Tourney this weekend, cleaning or fiddling with the clubs, maybe re-gripping, fighting with the wife about having the bag full of Titleists in the living room "in the way", and dreaming. For a little while longer.

I'm in CT and agree 100%. Looking out the window only reminds me of how my Saturday foursome will not start next week like we always have. Sad sad day today...

This year certainly reinforces the old adage...When March comes in like a lamb, it goes out like a lion!

So far, have used my snowblower twice since yesterday afternoon. To add salt to the wound, my new clubs arrived yesterday.

Living in NY, this describes me perfectly. This post made me laugh out loud, to which my wife turned to look at me and asked to read what made me laugh. She smiled and also told me to move my Titleist bag out of the living room!

    Tom,

Couldn't agree more! Putting in the living room will have to do for now. Just when we thought we were getting close, Mother Nature assures us of her dominance once again haha

Scheduled to play Bulle Rock on Saturday. I don't believe they got as much as anticipated and me being 20 minutes north of Philadelphia didn't get as much as expected, due to sleet, rain. If it ends soon, I think we'll be able to do it. The head pro said course drains pretty well and if they got only 4-5" I think it'll be okay for Saturday. Well at least let's hope it is.

Hello Tom B. We really got lucky here at the Jersey Shore. All rain. Already made a tee time for Sunday. Time to head a few hours south.
    Play Well,
    Steve S.
  10. I feel bad for all the north easterners. I am in Northern California and it's sunny and 80*. So you would think I would be out on the course everyday. Well, with all the rain we had over the last several months my club is still closed due to not being able to get the mowers out to mow. So I know how you guys feel.

Looking out the window here in Vermont seeing nothing but white. Accumulations from 18 to 24 ". Blizzard warning in effect. Nothing green in sight.

I will take your advice tho, and wear my Titleist winter hat while plowing my driveway multiple times! Hoping for a sudden warming trend soon!

This storm is indeed painful for us hoping for an early season, but does not seem as bad as advertised at least for the south shore - keep the faith!
  13. I feel your pain. I live in southern Maine. My course was going to open in another week or so. All the snow HAD melted. Today, snow, white out conditions, and the depressing reality that my first round will be delayed by another few weeks. I guess I'll now have time to clean my clubs a few more times.

South Carolina even had some snow over the weekend. I live in Charleston and the chill factor was 37* on Sunday. We played in the City of Charleston Men's Four Ball Championship finals in two club winds and it was brutal. My new partner and I did shoot 68 and finish second in the Senior Division first flight for a total of 140 for two days. My 716 AP1s came thru for me along with my Prov1 and the rest of my Titleist equipment. He was playing Titleist DCI irons. Yeah, it was cold, because the prediction was for rain and that is what we dressed for and the weather changed.

Here's a question, where can you get one of the winter hats/beanies at? I don't see any listed at like Dick's/Golf Galaxy.

Thank you all!! All of these made my day and made me laugh, and when I got down to David A in New York, I laughed out loud, uncontrollably, to the point of tears running down my cheecks, when I just couldn't stop laughing (probably helped that I was watching the tribute to Arnie also on TV), and too, my wife couldn't understand what was wrong with me. When I finally stopped, I read her my post and a couple of the answers. What did I get????? "That's nice, but YOUR clubs are still in the living room too!, so get 'em outa there! Thanks all, you make it easier to get through this lousy weather.

Out with the family this week down in Florida for spring break. We are in the pan handle and had a cold streak this week but it did not keep me and my brother in law away from the golf course. It was a cool morning but we had a great round at Shark's Tooth. Including a picture of the 18th from the clubhouse this afternoon. Sure beats winter!

  19. After Tuesday's blizzard, don't think we'll be seeing play any time soon. From no snow to covered. Delayed our opening by another month. Oh well, there's beauty to be found, even in March snow.

    Enjoy!

Its been a bad winter. Moved to Dauphin Island, Alabama in November and played almost daily. Did not play from December to mid-March in Alabama, cold, rain, wind, gale winds a couple times. Two days in February with temps below 30. Back to Ohio and there has been snow on the ground since we got back. This is a bad start for the year as I'm usually playing now in Ohio.
