Hi everyone! I just came across the news from the PGA Tour that the Zürich Open has changed the tournament format from a straight individual medal/stroke play event of four rounds to a format of 2-person teams. The 2 person team plays a "best ball" (best score on the team) on the first day and a "foursome" (alternating shot) format for the second day with a cut happening at that point. It is not match play - strokes are still counted. The tournament format is repeated on the weekend for the teams that make the cut.

So, assuming that we were in the Zürich Open, which PGA tour pro would you partner with for this event? We see Rickie Fowler and Day are partnering as are Rose and Henrik Stenson. Let's assume that they are available to be picked for our event. :-)

For me, I would probably pick DJ -- not only would his prodigious length off of the tee be a huge asset, but I think his calm demeanour would be a perfect counter to my own temperament (I tend to be hard on myself as a player) and I must admit that I was in awe of DJ in the way that he handled the US OPEN rules controversy! Besides, can you imagine hitting short irons into long par 4's for the approach shot in an alternating ball format??

Curious as to who you would pick and why!

You may think this is corny, and I know this isn't within the rules of this fantasy format, but since it is fantasy, my pick would be Arnie. Hands down. And not necessarily when he was in his prime. Playing with him while he was in his 80s would be just fine, and I imagine worth every minute. There is no one who ever played the game with who I would rather play a round or two of golf. Not Tiger or Jack or Mr. Hogan. I wouldn't care about where we placed. I only care about experiencing something special with a very special golfer and person. I'll just have to overlook the fact that he isn't playing Titleists.

    Doug,
What a great idea! Arnie would have been an awesome to tee it with.
I'll take Mr. Byron Nelson in the same conditions you had... 'cause I just know Mr. Hogan wouldn't have the patience with me- I don't blame him.
Anyway, I know the tournament is over with. But we'll play anyway. :-)
    Thanks.

Steve Stricker...drives the ball well, is a phenomenal wedge player and putts lights out. To go along with his golf game, he seems like a very calm guy that would be fun to be paired with.

I would pick Rickie Fowler because he's known for being great company with his easy going personality. No doubt that the round would be enjoyable no matter how we would play.

Couples. If he's healthy, we would have a chance to win. If he's not, it would still be an entertaining golf tournament.
