Im a local here, Torrey might be hard to get if you get a lot.. Maderas is a good course

Maderas is a great course. Excellent suggestion.

I'll be flying in Wednesday early and out on Saturday back to MI. I'm game for whatever the group wants to do. Would like to know what Titleist has in store for us before we make plans. My opinion. But way looking forward to meeting the Team Titleist Family.

As I keep saying... I will be in the SD area from 12/5-12/10... If I needed to be in SD a day earlier I can make it happen now but as it gets closer I may not be able to... I have plans on playing Torrey from sun up to sundown on 12/6
October 03, 2013 At 02:20 PM
Ok, I cannot imagine a more fun day in the area! ....so it sounds like we have some options at Torrey Pines to play on Friday and a few people at a minimum. Adam, could you confirm what sort of green fees for 18-36 holes of golf that day so we can get a group (or couple of groups together)...Thanks!
Samuel CPhoenix, AZ
Was there an email that was sent out about where these events will be held? I live in Arizona, but I'm from the San Diego area and would love to join.

Brent, should not be a problem...Wednesday night I am guessing we will get together as a group and have dinner/drinks etc... as fas as Friday, what time would you be able to play until to catch your flight?
AJARPortland, OR
I am definitely in for that at either north or south at Torrey. Can we start a confirmed list and hopefully set up a few tee-times?
I'm in for Wednesday golf (flight dependent-but planning on prenoon arrival) and Friday Golf (all day-leaving Sat morning).
For what that's worth. Excited to meet you all. Now to figure what Scotty C to bring. Might have to bring 2 (lol)

Based on playing Fr-Su, the South Course is $229/137 (walking) and the North Course is $125/75 (walking) plus a $43 booking fee. My own experience over Christmas week as a single was I didn't pay the booking fee by waiting for a time with the starter. In case anyone wants to play North first then the South - that rotation would cover the booking cost.
Carts and push carts are arranged through the pro shop and are not listed on the website.

I have played the North course and it was nice but I am not sure if it is worth $125...The south course is obviously the crown jewel which is why I am guessing they charge $229!
Scott and Ajar, we should also consider Maderas as another great venue...regardless lets get a list going at some point in the near future of whos in and start the process of getting tee times!

So I live in Idaho and would be down to make a trip out that way for this event. is there anyway I can register or find a way to get in to this? Or is it open for anyone that is part of TT and willing to be there?
Thanks,

For those of you heading to Sun Diego look into playing @ Barona GC. and Arrowood.
Barona is pretty sweet and there is a casino on site!
Arrowood is pretty nice as well.
Both are reasonably priced...
DR. K
Dr K is correct, Barona is a bit of a haul from the coast but I'd put it right behind TP South as one of the premier courses in San Diego. Barona has the best practice facility of any public course..

How do these courses compare to Maderas and Torrey Pines from a standpoint of scenery, challenge and conditions?
Thanks!
Chris-
Maderas is very good I have played several times when we lived in Carlsbad...not my favorite.
Whenever we return for a visit I find myself heading out to Barona...The course is always in Top Shape and it plays tournament ready every time....unless they have planned routine seasonal maintenance.
As far as Torrey goes It really sucks when you pay big bucks for furry greens...the views are great but you can never expect the course to be perfect like you see on The Golf Channel...
You can also look into the Crossings at Carlsbad...its interesting and close to LEGOLAND.
Don't rule out Arrowood Great Track and Challenging....Biggest greens I have ever played besides PGA West Stadium Course.
Here are a few pics of Barona:
It looks like Barona is about $64-$80 twilight rate where as Maderas is about $150...definitely a difference but the pictures make Barona look pretty good!
How about Maderas twilight on Wednesday and Torrey North (am) then Torrey South on Friday?
October 04, 2013 At 06:59 PM
Did not realize sunset is about 4:45pm...just verified on Sunrise-Sunset Calendar! Could not believe it!
I will be online at the starters booth around 6 on the 6th...I did this last year and got out as the first group...I don't think there are tee times for the first hour....as for the PM round...I was planning on playing the North at or after the price break...I have been on both course and didnt have an issue going out as a single but it may be different at a group
October 04, 2013 At 08:06 PM
Adam, what time does the price go down? Just curious...
October 13, 2013 At 09:19 AM
I believe at 12 but keep in mind it gets dark at 445 at that point
October 15, 2013 At 09:31 PM
Do you mean it gets dark before 5pm? Wow! That changes things alot for Wednesday...We might only have time to go to Stadium Golf Driving Range then as a group we can head out for dinner...However for Friday morning we should consider Barona...the pics look great and it appears to have something for everyone including a casino, pools etc..
First, Thank you to everyone at Titleist for an incredible event! Also, It was a lot of fun to meet Cathi, Mike, Cam, Skip, Scott, and all the other Titleist Staffers during this event. Everyone had an amazing time and the ryder cup format made the round a lot of fun!
Second, Here are some pics from the event I thought I would share with everyone!
Hendy (Scott; quite the Cigar Master!) and I having fun before the round on Thursday!
These were serious golf carts! The seats were leather and had plenty of contours like a Ferrari!
Cam, Josh and Mike posing before the round for a quick photo!
The 18th hole approach next to the waterfall! The Grand Del Mar is a gorgeous layout!

Oh man I wish I could join you. I get in Wed and fly out late Saturday night. I'll be there for the TT event obviously, but my wife is coming along. I can't ditch her for the whole trip. I'll try to do some sweet talking to see if I can't get out to TP for one of these rounds. It'll be a couple of days after my birthday (the big 30) so maybe that'll buy me a couple points with my better half.
Where are you out of state guys staying?
Anyone else bringing a significant other along?
Either way I'll see you all in Sunny SD!

I am coming solo like some others however you could always reconnect with her late afternoon and evening...I am certain there are some fantastic beaches/shopping/sights that she would enjoy while you are on the course....JAT
In my opinion Barona blows Maderas' doors off and twilight starts at 11:00 AM. The greens are better and faster, pace of play faster, no homes on course, free iced bottle water and huge(free) practice facility... Only knock is the drive, but its not terrible by any stretch!
October 15, 2013 At 01:37 AM
I am thinking Barona might be the play on Friday...anyone else like this idea? I realize Torrey is a big draw so if the group prefers it that is fine...It seems there are some advantages to Barona based upon many that have contributed to this thread. For instance we can tee off around 11am on Friday and get the Twilight rate, they have a large practice facility etc...Just my thoughts early at this point...anyone else have any thoughts...I do not want to miss anything obvious! LOL
It appears that we have the following people interested in playing Friday Morning:
2. Scott H.
3. Adam S.
4. AJAR (Joesph)
At the moment, Wednesday might be tough since sunset is around 4:45pm and thus we would need to tee off before 11:45am to ensure we finish in a normal four to five round (Since my flight does not arrive until 11:10am I am probably out). That being said for those in the same situation as myself we may wish to consider all going to hit some balls at a local golf practice facility (The guys at Oceanside Facility for Titleist suggested Stadium Golf Center as one potential option) and then head out and get some dinner and drinks and maybe catch up with anyone that played in the morning.
As far as Friday morning, it appears that Barona may be a great option since their twilight rate begins at 11am and it appears to be a favorite from many not just on this site. I will be there in about one week so I can check it out...
What does everyone think thus far? Anyone else interested? I realize it is early but just trying to brainstorm and everyone's input is apreciated!
Don't play Torrey, they've cut fairways down to the quick, like they do every year at this time. They'll tell you that when you call for reservations.. Arrowood is a good track.
Thanks for everyone's input regarding Torrey and knowledge about other courses.
I actually do not have a preference but it looks like Barona is on top of the list over Maderas and Arrowood.
It's probably time to confirm who is interested in Barona and can make it so that we can make bookings soon. Below are those confirmed. Please reply to this to get on the 'confirmed' list for Fridays get-together:
4. Joseph R
Scott just told me he is getting in around 10am and since I do not get to San Diego around 2pm he may be able to lead an early round...it looks like I may just have to hit balls on Thursday since it gets dark around 4:45pm... bummer...however Friday is a go and we may focus on Barona...any other input? Thanks also for the thoughts on Torrey and Arrowhead...

Great thread everyone! Looking forward to meeting all of the TT Invitational attendees!
Here are a few photos I took a few years ago at The Grand.
Also, below is a video I did a few years back at the Grand, with now with Titleist Brand Ambassador Tyrone Van Aswegen
Great video Joe, Hilarious! Thanks for sharing. I hope we don't seem that way.
And don't worry about Beverley, there's plenty more fish in the sea!

Very funny - a great start to Friday!!
Great Video!!! That is way to funny! Who are the other two guys with you?
Thanks! The guy in the blue sweater is Tryone Van Aswegen - PGA Tour The other is Spencer R. who works at Titleist in the golf club department

Hilarious video. I've seen that a few times and it never gets old.
Mike CDallas, TX
Love the video. What makes it so funny is we all can relate!
Just was in Oceanside, up the street from the The Grand Del Mar...and all the other courses. It seems we have lots of choices...definitely like the idea of Barona. Tip, we should stop by there on Wednesday evening and get player cards for free...that gives us discounts on the golf course! Price goes from $80 to $64 for the twilight rate (includes green fees, cart, and range balls) at 11am...and the course looks great but I did not play it. http://www.barona.com/golf/rates%2Dtee%2Dtimes/
Sounds like a plan. I guess we can't make are-time booking any earlier than when the player cards are in our possession?
November 04, 2013 At 09:17 AM
Not sure...do you think they will book up fast in December??
Is there anyone local that can help us with this??
2 Weeks away! or less!!
I have begun to finalize Wednesday Dinner for anyone interested and will put up a note on that next week if you are interested. Also, we are finalizing golf on Friday late morning at Borona Creek Golf Course to ensure it will not be a problem to get our small group off there. More details as well to come!
I spoke with the folks at Barona and it looks like we can book tee-times now regardless of whether we have the playing cards or not. We can just get the cards at the casino sometime before - perhaps Wednesday evening for a pre-TT Invitational 'meet-n-greet'?
So, who would like to tee off at 11am Friday with Chris and I at Barona?
Let me know asap and I will go ahead and make the tee-times.
Regards,
Joseph Reyes.
Marc S
I'd love to get in for dinner. I'm traveling with my wife, so I'm most likely out for a Friday Round. See you guys soon
Great! We are confirmed for dinner at Barona Resort and Casino on Wednesday around 6pm. If you would like to attend PM me so we can exchange cell phone numbers. Joesph and I are traveling from our hotels near the Grand Del Mar, if anyone needs a ride you can also let me know...
Then we will also play on Friday morning, we will finalize our tee time(s) that day.

Gents, I'm in for Friday. Also in for Wed night dinner. Talked to Mike and we should be seeing some information about the outing times and whatnot, soon. Looking very forward to breaking away from the stress and cold. Thanks again Team Titleist for the opportunity
OK, so we have Chris, Hendy and myself for Barona on Friday. Any others wanting to join? Need to book tee times soon...
Hi all,
I have booked 2 tee-times for Barona on Friday (11am and 11:10am - both twilight rates) and have the following 5 people that are interested:
2. Joseph (AJAR)
4. Scott H.
5. Hendy
If anyone is interested in joining or pulling out please let me know so I can contact the pro-shop to alter the booking.
Gents,
First, I think you have me twice on the list unless it's just coincidence. Scott H is my name and Hendy is my nickname.
Unfortunately I am going to be "on the fence" with what goes on with me outside of the event. It seems some friends and family got wind of me being in Cali and have requested my presence at other events. Not quite sure how much of my time this in take up but I don't want to have anybodies plans hinging in me.
I appreciate the invites and see you in Cali.
No problem! We have plenty of people in the loop...anything you would like to join in will be great!
Thanks
There is a small group of us that going to dinner on Wednesday around 6pm. If you would like to attend PM me so we can exchange cell phone numbers...Thanks! See everyone in Del Mar this week!
Marc SSan Antonio, TX
Fellas,
Brent W. and I will be at the course bright and early Thursday morning. Unfortunately we do not get until late Wednesday evening. I know that I can speak for Brent and tell you all that we are excited as HE double hockey sticks to meet you all and participate in this awesome event. See you soon.
Cheers,
Marc
Post some pics of Barona!!!
I used to play there regularly when we lived in San Marcos. Love this course!!!
Practice your chipping & putting!
If my mind serves me well all questionable putts break towards the Hotel...be sure to ask a local.
Hope y'all enjoy the Barona and the TT Event!!!!

You got it!
Our post round golf was at Barona Resort at their golf club located North East of San Diego. It is built around the foothills and mountains in that area and everyone that works there was incredibly friendly. From the security guard greeting us to the golf staffers, what an incredible day!
Joseph posing for a pic in front of the entrance feature to the course area!
The driving range area with the hotel in the background amongst the foothills which surround the course. Part of the course goes back into the mountains so hitting up and down off of small mountain areas was a blast! (Assuming you hit accurate shots! LOL).
This is part of the front nine where they even have water hazards on the course! Mountains, water and rattle snakes were just some of the hazards...lots of sand also!
We can't leave out Chris and his new clubs! :)
Such a good day! I wish I could have made it out with you for round 2. Great times as always.
Chris, you weren't supposed to post my picture. Damn, look at how big my head is (lol).
It was a pleasure to meet you and the crew. Wish I could have gotten out to Barona with you's. I did end up getting sucked up to LA for the day which killed me. Played LA National, which was pretty nice but cold.
We WILL get out this summer.
Thank again and please burn that picture (lol).
Scott
