I wonder if the guys at Team Titleist would start a want ads section for TT members to sell or buy used Titleist clubs because not everyone can afford to pay retail for new clubs. This would offer options to those members who are upgrading to be able to help out those who can't afford the kind of equipment they desire such as clubs, bags, etc. Granted TT Members would have to set up the shipping and payment exchange with each other it would still give a format for people to post items for sale or to search for items they are wanting to buy. For example someone searching for an older club to finish an incomplete set. I would be highly interested in something like this and would be a frequent shopper.

    Thanks

Thanks  Geoffrey! Because I would be very interested in upgradeing to a total Titleist set of clubs if the price was right..Thought it be nice to at least have the chance anyways. Not many shops up here G.F. Mt. No competetion so the shops here are sky high in prices..Thxs for your response!

    upply and

Sad to say, golf clubs do not follow ususal rules of supply and demand.  The advertised price is controlled by the OEMs.  The price in Montana is close to the price in Columbus, OH.  The only evidence of S&D is when some vendors reduce the price prior to the new models.  Not usual with Titleist.  If you see a better price, it may be counterfit.

The idea was already been brought up before by other TT members.  However, the administrators cannot endorse the idea because of the "risks" involved.  The Team Titleist site is for blogs, discussions, and forums.

The best that we could do is trade among ourselves.  Make some friends thru the site and make transactions privately.  Afterall, one of the purpose of the site is the opportunity to meet fellow Titleist enthusiasts..

We have also attempted to organize some "golf outings" with other members near our respective areas.  Some would show interest but still to no avail...

Anyway, happy golfing! And good luck!

  7. I too would be interested. I've always loved Titleist clubs, but the price is, to be kind, "out of reach" for us "mere mortals".

Hey! Here's an idea... manufactures "less expensive" sets, yet, they are still a quality product.

    Has Titleist ever considered this?

This way, those of us who desire a new set of clubs bearing the Titleist stamp, could actually afford some. I have a set of Titleist forged irons (circa 1978) that my wife purchased for me on E-Bay; she bought them for me LAST YEAR. I love the clubs themselves but, the technology and materials have improved so much since then... I would prefer to be able to buy a new set that incorporates some of the new technology. I personally wouldn't mind knowing that I wasn't using the exact clubs the Tour Players are playing with... I don't have their game, either!

    Think about it, Titleist.

As regards the old hacker's idea, I've thought about how (a) OEM manufacturer(s) could help keep more average players in the game.  It is somewhat discouraging to try to get started, get advice to get fitted, and you either try a used set, maybe the last of a 2 year old off the rack set, or go with a current model for a good fit and find it will take a grand.  There are even a couple of serious game improvement sets that are $1200 just for the irons.

But if there was a model sold for 2-5 years, that would reduce the R&D (and actually amortorize previous investments in last year's model) so a set of irons with a couple of hybrids could be fitted for under $500.  Then over time and level of participation, they would be more willing to make the major investment.

The franchise could be preserved for Acushnet by marketing the clubs as Pinnacle.  The only new club options are various generic vendors that at best have knock-offs and online fitting.  There must be a market for amateurs getting into the came. Not unlike GM with Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac.
