    Hi fellow TTers,

What is your most gratifying shot?  One that is difficult for you, but feels oh so good when you manage to pull it off.  For me, it's hitting a good chip or pitch and getting up and down.  To me, because my short game needs to catch up to the rest of my game, the gratification of getting up and down is awesome.

This past weekend I needed an up and down from greenside deep rough for a par to shoot 89 (on a course I never played before) and to win the match, I got it.

Great question. The sand save is always a great in-round confidence booster for me. I also think hitting a great tee shot after a birdie or clutch par is a really gratifying shot. Helps me to keep building on the momentum.

We have a couple of greens that when you go long, it is a difficult shot to get close to the pin.  So my shot would be that soft flop shot from 10 feet off a downhill lie to a green that runs away from you.  It is really difficult for me to swing as hard as I have to to get enough spin on the ball to keep it from rolling off the green.  When I manage to pull it off, it is a great feeling.:)

Tie between hitting a wedge shot within a couple feet or making a 15-20 putt for birdie or par.

Love the short game shots because it's all about feel.

Holing out for birdie or getting within a foot or two for par (or even birdie). Ranking: 1. Bunker shot 2. Over the bunker pitch 3. 50-100 yard wedge shot 4. Approach shots from 100+ yards in 5. Wedge shots within 50 yards

I ranked wedge shots from within 50 yards as #5 because I have a high percentage of "get down in 2 or hole out" and these are pretty routine.

The 8-10 footer to save par is pretty rewarding. Just wish I got that gratifying feeling more often, as I am having quite a few opportunities lately.

The Bunker From Hell at Riverwalk Friars #8 in San Diego - took out the ole 62-07 and let one rip to a green 8 ft above the bottom of the bunker and landed 5' from the pin.

I always feel great when I can hit a 3 iron 235 yards and stick it within 5-10 feet from the pin...especially when I'm playing with people that say I don't have a chance of getting it close. It's also a good feeling when you're draining most of your putts within 10 feet. On the other hand, it feels horrible when I'm less than 100 yards out and can't stick the ball within 10 feet from the pin and end up three putting for bogey.

I agree Lefty that is a very gratifying thing to accomplish - when I mange to scramble and save par I start to feel like I'm playing some good solid golf - to me any up and down is great!

A Dead Solid Perfect Mid/Long iron.  I remember those the most.

Mine is on #18 at our local course.  It's 525 yd dogleg left par 5.  About 100 yds off the tee box there's a pine tree on the mid-right side of the fairway.  You can go left of that tree, but at about 250 yds there's a hill that slops from left to right back down to the middle of the fairway.  If you don't carry this hill (about 300 yds to carry it) it kills your roll and pushes the ball back down to the right.  However, if you can play right of the pine tree and play a pretty hard draw the ball will run off the hill coming in from the other side (right) and down to the middle of the fairway.  If you play this shot and don't draw it, you're either in the trees or over in another parallel fairway.

The last three times I played the course, I hit it just like I drew it up.  All three tee shots left me around 175-190 out!

Although I have many, here are my top 2.

Hitting a high cut into a par 3 and stuffing it to tap in range.

Hitting a low screamer off the tee against the wind.

Hitting the green while in a fairway bunker is also nice.

shooting it out of the bunker right next to the green... although it would probably help if i owned a sand wedge

For me its saving a bogey after going out of bounds or making par after hitting it into the water.  It feels great when i can turn a potentially high number into a manageable score.
