Everyone has that one golf event we play every year, or 6 months, or monthly, that stands out to us an important event to win. It's a bit more special than your usual weekly rounds, and you work even harder to put together a solid score to take home the win. It could be the club championship, a local match play event or an annual golfing trip with your golf khaki's.

To sum it up nicely, its your major.

With the final Major of the year starting Thursday - The PGA Championship, we're asking Team Titleist South East Asia .. what's your major?

Share your stories with us here, we'd love to hear about the events you play in that mean the most to you every year.

  2. I organize and run many tournaments a year, but for me there is one that I do as a labour of love.

It is called The Beaver and will be held on the first weekend of April next year in Pattaya. It is supported by the Thai-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and the field is made up of Canadian, multi-national expats and some Thais. The net proceeds go to three ways - charity (Eye for an Eye Foundation), The Flying Farangs (a hockey group here dedicated to supporting the development of ice hockey among Thais) and the Chamber's operations.

If my records are correct next year will be the 30th anniversary. It originally started out in 1985 as the Can-Am, held between the Canadian and US Embassies along with their Thai friends. Since that time the event grew to as many as 320 players on one course in one day. Last year we had a Friday night party/networking function at a seaside tavern followed by a 4-man scramble on Saturday for 140 players in a noon shotgun, followed by a fantastic outdoor dinner.

It's a fantastic event, made all the more special by the number of ex-Thailand based people who return every year to meet old friends for a great weekend.

    Hello Tom,

For me the tournament I get most jacked for is the Lehigh Valley Amateur event at Greenpond Golf Club in Bethlehem, PA run the final two weekends in September. This tournament has run for 75 years and is extremely well run over the years. Local sponsors are very generous and this event even gets local TV coverage as well. This is a week long event beginning with qualifying followed by match play. There are multiple categories including a Championship flight followed by 1st, 2nd and 3rd flights. I have taken home crystal twice for winning the 3rd flight of the senior division. I am focused on qualifying into the championship flight next year with the help of having recently being fitted for the 915 D2, F 3 wood and three H hybrids. My goal is to get from a 5.2 down to a 2. These new clubs felt amazing to hit and I was surprised to see how straight they went on the monitor. I can't wait to receive these next week as the shafts had to be ordered. Torture waiting on these!!!
