One of the things I love about the majors is the inclusion of amateurs and its always fun watching these up and coming stars tackle the tough conditions and huge pressure of these huge events. One amateur that will always stick in my mind is Pro V1x loyalist Tom Lewis. His 65 on the first day's play at St Andrew's in 2011 saw him on top of the leaderboard, and he became an overnight sensation in England, appearing in every sports section.

Although he could not keep up the pace, Lewis made the cut and went on to win top Amateur at the Championship and turned pro shortly after. For me, that incredible opening round 65 is one of my favorite Open Championship moments.

Let us know what moments stand out for you below. I'm looking forward to seeing more great memories created this week at Royal Liverpool.

  2. Last years Open was brilliant. Seeing Big Phil step up and win a major that no one thought he'd get was superb. The year before that saw the making of Adam Scott. I believe that the heartbreak that Scott went through in losing to Els made him mentally very tough and now we see him challenging almost every time he tees it up! Can't wait for this years drama to unfold.
