On an unusually mild November 14th, I joined three others at Whistling Straits on the Irish course. On hole number 13, a short par three with the pin in the front. I hit my 54-degree wedge over the 102-yard flag and watched it spin back and disappear into the bottom of the cup—my first hole-in-one.
Jay teed off fourth. I watched his tee shot follow the same line mine did. It landed just past the hole, and as soon as it began spinning back, it was going in. Two holes in one, on the same hole. 17 million-to-1 odds, according to the PGA of America.
