It was a perfect day on a friends’ golf trip, and we were playing Lonnie Poole Golf Course — one of those rounds where the laughs mattered more than the score. We got to hole number 2, a 204-yard par 3. I pulled out my club, lined up, and hit a shot that felt solid — one of those swings where you just know you caught it right.
When we walked down toward the green, I couldn’t find my ball anywhere. We looked all around — behind the green, in the rough — nothing. That’s when one of my buddies grinned and said, “Check the hole.”
Sure enough, I walked over, peeked in, and there it was — my ball sitting at the bottom of the cup. A 204-yard hole-in-one. The group went crazy. It was one of those moments you dream about as a golfer — pure disbelief followed by absolute celebration.
