  1. On June 12, 2022, at Wenham Country Club, I got my first (and only) hole-in-one—something I still can’t quite believe happened.

At the time, I was still pretty new to the game, not even two years in. I’d been playing a decent round for myself that day, but I completely blew hole 6, walking away with a frustrating 8 on a par 4. Feeling a little deflated, I let my husband and our two friends tee off first on hole 7 while I collected myself. I told them I needed to redeem that last hole—but I definitely didn’t expect this.

I took a smooth, easy swing with my 7-wood, hitting a yellow Titleist TruFeel ball (complete with a little palm tree logo—it was a found ball, and a gift from my husband a few weeks earlier). The shot flew cleanly, landed just short of the green, took a soft bounce, and rolled straight into the cup—132 yards, perfectly.

I didn’t even realize what had happened until our friend Sam yelled, “It went in!!” At that same moment, my son—who happened to be working at the course that day—jumped out of his cart by the green, arms in the air making the field goal “it’s good” sign. He had been waiting to water the green and saw the whole thing from just a few yards away.

There was cheering from our group, commotion from the house next to the 7th hole, and word of it started spreading across the course. It turned what could’ve been a discouraging round into a day I’ll never forget.
