My dad started me at golf around the age of 6 or 7 years old. He would take me to the driving range at Green Meadows in Hudson NH, and the ball field by Saint Eulalia church in Winchester MA to hit wedges. For about 3 years this is where I hit golf balls until I could advance the ball down the fairway. My dad wouldn’t allow me on the golf course until he knew I could at least advance the ball down towards the hole to not slow up the round for everyone else. So finally around 9 or 10 years old he took me out to the VA Course in Bedford MA. At 10 years old my very first shot on this golf course was a complete shank, and I hit the side of a barn. I looked at my dad embarrassed but without missing a step he looked at all the on lookers and said “well no one can say he can’t hit the broad side of a barn”. I’m almost 41 now and I just got my first HOLE IN ONE. 31 years in the making. My 4some made it extremely memorable. As one of them said it “it was fucking electric”. Dad I just want to say say thank you for introducing me to this rewarding and god frustrating game. I wish I could give you my hole in one. Thorny Lea hole 13, 167 yards 8 iron landed 7 feet past the flag juiced a little and tear dropped into the cup.
