A long time buddy and work mate that I hadn’t seen for several years and I decided to meet and play a round of golf while spending some wintertime down south. We decided on the Augusta Ranch in Mesa, AZ. The day was perfect for golf and a reunion of sorts.
The day was Friday, Feb 25, 2022, tee time was 1:13pm, and was beautiful, but turned amazing at hole number 6, a 107 yard par 3.
My buddy hit first and pulled it left of the green. I pulled out my left handed cally A wedge which I usually hit about 100 yards. I placed my Titleist Pro V1 on the tee. The cup was in the front lower level of the green, which had a slight angle facing us.
I hit my shot as well as I could. It was on the pin, or maybe a smidgen to the right side of it. The ball landed short, bounce twice to the left and forward, rattled the pin and disappeared. In amazement I said to my buddy, “It went in!” To his reply, “It’s a hole in one!” We laughed and couldn’t believe it. He took some pictures to commemorate the occasion. I retrieved my ball from the hole and wrote the particulars of the situation on the ball to save it as a keepsake. We both sent texts to our wives.
When I got back to our RV resort my neighbor told me I should report it to Titleist, they have a hole in one club. That is why I’m submitting this story.
I’ve golfed for 55 years and this is my first and probably only hole in one. If never played another round of golf I couldn’t say I felt cheated.
