The 8th hole at Rolling Meadows is a tough 110 yd. par 3. The green is narrow to an elevated tee box with a normal green width. Most times I am either just short or just long on my tee shots because it is so narrow. On November 17th, 2021, I hit a tee shot that was right at the pin. It hit short and rolled a few feet. The three guys with me said they couldn't tell what happened to the ball. I thought I saw it run just passed the stick and was hiding in behind the stick's shadow. However, when we drove down to the hole there was no ball on the green. Sure enough, it was in the hole, and we were all celebrating. None of the guys had ever seen a hole-in-one in person, so it was as big of a thrill for them as it was for me, and it only took 51 years of golf to get one. I wonder, will Titleist send me a replacement Pro V1x ball? This ball is headed for a climate-controlled trophy case with all the alarms!
