It was July 11, 2020 St. James Bay country club in Florida. Hole 6 was playing really long with the tees and flag back 188 yards. Standing on the tee box with my 5 iron I reached in my pocket for a ball and pulled a tour soft and a chrome soft and instantly put the chrome soft back and began talking about how more hole in one are hit with Titleist than any other ball. And for the first time ever from the tee box I felt compelled to call my shot and then started describing the shot which is crazy because I'm lucky to hit the green most days. I knew it was going in as soon as it left the club face. I dropped my club threw both hands up and started walking back saying that's it that's it. One of the guys on the tee box with me said nice shot I responded no that's it. It hit four feet in front of the hole on a uphill green and released so slowly it was like slow motion and tracked stright to the flag and disappeared. A wave of chills went up my arms and the back of my neck as I starting yelling it went in. My nephew who was the other part of our threesome said who calls a shot like that. Feeling pretty proud of myself I screamed Babe Ruth. As I drove to the hole I began second guessing what I saw thinking maybe there was a dip in the green right in front of the hole and it just looked like it went in and was actually just on the green but short. When I got to the green my nephew was already out of the cart headed to the hole. He looks in the hole and just dropped his head and started smiling as he walks back to the carts. He gets back to the carts and shows me his arms and says look now I've got the chills and the rush of adrenaline comes right back as fast as it left when I started to second guess the shot. I've done a lot of thrilling things in life that really gets the blood flowing but never have I felt anything that compares to the rush of that first hole in one.
