  1. It was around 06:15am when we reached the dreaded hole 5, this is a short par 3 of 111 yards. I say dreaded as although this is only a short hole it is a tee shot directly over the pond with a bunker in front of the green The flag being positioned just left of the bunker and the tee box position forcing you to take on the pond. The only chance you have of getting close to the pin is to go directly over the pond. We have in the past lost many balls in the pond and this is always in the back of your mind when you approach this hole. I selected by nine iron and lined myself up in line with the left edge of the bunker and pin. A pitching wedge will get you there but, I didn’t want to hit the ball so hard as, was going more for accuracy. After one practise swing I struck the ball perfectly. It was one of those moments that as soon as you made contact you knew it was a good shot and could be close. On the tee with me at the time were my playing partners Paul Mark and Dan. On the opposite side of the green were our other team that had just finished hole 5. Chris, Michael and Neil and these guys were spectating positioned on tee 6 which gives you a beautiful elevated view of the green on hole 5. As the ball went into the air Mark shouted *That’s going straight at the flag”. I myself could see that it was looking good and it turned into one of those slow motion moments. The ball dropped onto the green, bounced around 12 foot from the pin and then with the perfect pace just rolled in a perfect straight line before slowing down and dropping straight into the hole. My instant reaction was one of shock and I yelled out a big yes, jumped and threw my arms into the air. Camera man Dan at the time who was filming my shot screamed a big yahoo and the boys standing on the 6th tee gave me a round of applause. Paul, Mark and Dan congratulated me on my shot.. Ironically on my 2nd visit to this hole there was an expectation and hope that I or one of us could replicate the achievement but, subsequently I put two balls into the pond and never even hit the green on this hole thereafter. However, this didn’t matter. I now have my hole in one and nothing else matters, no one can take that away from you! Titleist Tru-Soft
