On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, I was playing with my regular group at Springdale Country Club in Western North Carolina.
Number 8, from the gold tees, was 153 yards that day.
I hit a five wood from a club length and a half behind the tee markers. It flew down the left side of the fairway. The ball faded right and hit in the upper left edge of a wet sand trap guarding the front of the green. Surprisingly, it bounced up andd right onto the green. It began to roll right towards the hole.
One of the guys in my foursome called out, "Hey! Chip! If that thing keeps rolling it's going in!"
And it did.
In addition to the ace, I of course won "closest to the hole."
