Having played golf for 50 years and never having a hole in one, I was beginning to think at 69 it might never happen. Hole 17 at our club has always been my nemesis; once carding a 23 there about ten years ago. Yeah, it made the monthly club newsletter. September 12, 2020 with golf as one of the few outlets for Covid-19, I was playing 5 times a week. Some days better than others. One this day, as I stepped to the tee, I told one of my playing partners “I have the perfect shot for this hole”. Of course I always told him this. He told me 174 playing 170. OK, I never pay attention to yardages, I play by feel. I pulled a 4 hybrid and nailed it, never left the flag, one bounce and In. I, as were they, were shocked. Unfortunately it was a Saturday and the course was packed. Bar tab was significant! But, I didn’t mind; I finally had my Ace and life was good.
