We are a group of guys called "The Fellas". We normally play an event in Myrtle Beach every year and the group fluctuates between 4 and 16 golfers. Due to the pandemic we had to cancel our May 2020 event much to our dismay. As an alternative we decided to try an October event in Bama on the RTJ Golf Trail. We had 8 golfers attend, myself and my two grown sons from Bama along with guys from Indianapolis, Northern Virginia, Cleveland and Navarre Florida. We set out to play the RTJ site Cambrian Ridge on Friday October 17th. It was a crisp and cool fall day. We had a great time on the 18 holes of Sherling/Canyon, not great scores by anyone but a great time had by all. After lunch in the clubhouse we decide to play the Short Course which is another 9 hole RTJ course at Cambrian Ridge. We played as an 8some as there was nobody else on the course and it was a blast. We come to the last hole a par 3 of 159 yards with a green that had a large ridge running right in the middle of the green front to back with a pin tucked half way down the slope on the left. I was the 7th to tee off and took an 8 iron right at the ridge in the hopes that it would catch the left side and feed down to the hole. I struck it perfectly which is not normally in my game. The ball hit the green and took one hop and started to roll down the left slope. I thought it would be close. My oldest son Chase said he thought it went in. I couldn't really see that far and didn't believe him until we reached the green and I walked up and there was my Titlest ProV1 sitting neatly in the cup. I was shocked! It only took 40 years of playing. It did cost me a pretty penny in drinks back at the clubhouse but it was well worth it. The more miraculous thing about the whole situation was the next morning after we started a round on the RTJ Capitol Hill Judge course I was in the 2nd group of our 8 golfers and met the Marshall coming off the 2nd green after putting out and he said that a guy in the foursome in front of us just had a hole-in-one on number 3. I said which group and he said "the Duncan group". I said "we are the Duncan group". Next hole we find out that Jim Martinez in our other foursome was the one. Amazing two holes-in-one in two days. We went on to play the next day at the RTJ Grand National Lakes course but sadly no other hole-in-one. I was so proud that my two boys were able to see their old man get a hole-in-one and that my oldest son won the 3 day event to be named the "Bama RTJ COVID Open Champion Golfer for 2020". Sharing the love of the game with my sons and my good friends make these GT's indeed.
