Did it go in?

  1. It started on a normal league night for me. I am the Vice President and Treasurer for our local men’s league, so I was getting scorecards ready and setting up our ‘closest to’ and ‘skin pot’ bags. When I finish with that I always go hit a few balls. The first few were not good shots, as usual. But then I got to the par 3 4th hole; my first shot hit the flagstick. And I thought to myself, “wow I didn’t think I hit that very good.” So I hit another one and it landed about 2 feet behind the hole from 138 and it spun back to about 2 inches. So close. I’ll probably never get one. I didn’t have to play for the team in league that night, so I got to play with some friends for skins. We started on number 3. I made a birdie and my friend holed out for eagle from 128 yards. Fantastic, and definitely going to be a skin. Then we step up to the par 3 4th, all of their shots are wayward and they aren’t paying much attention to me taking my practice swings and getting ready to hit. I hit a pitching wedge from 138 yards and as soon I hit it, I said “that might go in.” And it tracked the whole way, directly on the pin the hole time and, in my mind, “shoot I hit it over green.” My friend sitting in the cart yells, “YOU MADE IT!” And I said no I think it went over. And he kept saying “no that’s in the hole.” From my angle it was directly in line with the pin so I couldn’t even tell. We drove up to the green as fast as we could and sure enough, one hop and in the hole for an ace! I’ve never acted like such a mad man on the golf course before, but I didn’t know how react. My first ace with some of my best friends, couldn’t draw it up any better.
