  1. I knew I shouldn't do it, it was the covid lockdown that made me do it, I really really tried to stop myself, but, I am ashamed to say, this morning I looked on Amazon to see if there were any new golf books.

I know, I am really sorry.

So, this chap Michael Jacobs published a book last year, The Science of the Golf Swing.

93GBP a copy, no less! No kindle version.

I have not bought it, but I assume since it is the most expensive instruction book, it must be the best one.

Anyone know of Jacobs, or this book?

I have never heard of Jacob or this book. You are right.....it is very expensive! I wish him well in selling it on Amazon.
  3. Norman, how about a book review? Sorry to assign homework. I am always up for a good read.....

Realize I'm a little late here, but I knew I recognized that name Michael Jacobs from somewhere. He is a pro at a course I used to frequently play back home on Long Island, and he's consistently been one of the top teaching pros in New York for a while. I took a lesson with him once probably 15 or so years ago and he knows his stuff. I can't speak to this book, but I can say that he's a legit teaching pro.
  5. Hello. Can you recommend any books for beginners. I'm just starting to learn this game. thank you

Ben Hogan's Five Lessons...the Modern Fundamentals of Golf. It's inexpensive and probably has the best description of how to grip the club I've ever seen. You may also do well to watch any Hogan videos posted on youtube.com

As for anyone wanting to learn the science of golf, "The Physics of Golf" is as technical as it gets. the chief point it brings out is, the forward shoulder should be your dominant one. For example, if you are a lefty, play golf righty and vice-versa.
