  1. Hi everyone,

Around the green I use a 60 degree wedge for everything inside 90 yards. I can use it for all types of shots and control spin and trajectory. I was wondering what everyone else does whether the use one club or lots of different lofts, Example 7iron chip.

Multiple clubs...the club I choose for a particular shot depends on course conditions and how I feel that day.

I use my 58° Vokey anywhere from 80 yards in. The only time I'll change is if in a green side bunker and the sand texture requires a different bounce.

Around the green I use an s grind 56 or 60 10 degree bounce depending if I’m short in high grass or short,
Also if I need to chip to the pin I choke down on an 5,7,8 iron depending on how far from the pin I am.

I used to use just a PW for everything and like you would manipulate the loft and ball position to generate a required outcome. Now I'll use whatever I feel is most appropriate given the lie, pin position, hazards, no go areas etc. Once I get really close I also try and loft down a club as most people tend to underestimate the distance. So if I initially think 'a little 7 o'clock-5 o'clock with a 54 deg, I'll immediately play the same length with the 50 deg.
  6. Depending on the lie and distance I use my 60 degree or my 50 degree Vokeys.
  7. For years I was strictly a 52 degree guy from about 100 yards and in. The last couple of years I have used my 56 degree more and also my 7 iron to just get the ball moving but on the ground quicker than the wedge if I am closer to the edge of the green.

I as many of you do the seven iron and my trusty 58 k grind wedge.also depending on conditions
  9. Multiple. I probably use my 56 degree wedge the most, but I'll use a 7 iron, PW, even a 3 wood if I feel like the shot calls for it. Getting creative around the greens is one of my favorite things to do on a golf course.
  10. I like my 50 cobra one length forged

If I need to loft the ball, its the 58 deg. but if I don't, I play bump and run especially playing on Bermuda with it's tight lies and grain. I'll use anything from a 54 deg. to a 7-iron depending on the distance. Years ago I was a 7-iron chipper until I went to an outing where the late Ken Venturi was giving a clinic before we went out. He preached the different club method. He would say that you have 14 clubs in your bag so use 1 motion and change clubs according to distance, or as he put it " What's easier, 14 clubs and 1 motion or 1 club and 14 different motions. " I've done it ever since with great results.

Robert, If you can use only one club inside 90yards for pitching, chipping, bunker play, more power to you! If your club choice inspires confidence, even better.Personally, I let the conditions and pin position dictate the shot. If I'm playing to a front pin or am short-sided, I'll hit my 56 high; a back pin from the fairway, I'll try and pinch my 50 degree and hit a low checker; from the rough either my 50 or a pw to make the ball run out.
  13. I use my 56 for almost everything inside of 70 yards. If I really need to get it high, for example to get it up and out of a bunker with a quick stop, I will use a 60. I prefer a 52 for the 70-100yard range. It is all preference and comfort.

Multiple clubs. Depends on the lie and the conditions. Do I want to fly it or pitch and run? Sometimes being more creative pays off. Knowing your yardage with various clubs from inside 100 yards helps and I personally love those pitch shots. 58* is the most loft I carry in my bag.

I use my 6-9, PW, W, 54 and 58 around the green depending on where I am and what I have in front of me. I'm just trying to land the ball 3-6 feet onto the green and let it run out each time. I only flop if I'm going over something.
