    In the past, i would stretch, hit tons of balls on the range and then little time on short game and putting.. NOW, I stretch, hit a VERY small bucket (maybe 15 balls at most, i'll hit like (7) PW, (4) 7 Irons and whatever is left a few drivers) on the range just to warm up and the last 1/2 hour or so before tee time i chip and putt around. best advice I ever got from a few Trash Pandas. It has truly paid off for me.

    I like to stretch and hit about 2 dozen shots full shots on the range to loosen up. A majority of my warm-up time is concentrated on the short game - chipping and putting.

    Like Speedy, i want my pre-round to be a warm up, not a practice session. I might hit a few PWs, 7 irons, fairway woods, and 3-5 driver swings, then chip and putt. Its just about getting some feel and tempo for the day. If its real hot and i am just going to my home course with my buddies, i might just chip and putt only. I have been known to stop at the range after a round to fix a shot pattern that i didnt like during the round. That and non-play days are where i do the range work.
  5. I do pretty much the same as whats up above. I just found what works best for me and do the same the every time I play

    I do 1 token at our range which is like 35 balls. I do a quick stretch then hit balls.
    * 3-5 balls with 50* wedge
    * 3-5 balls with 9 iron, usually first try flighting it down and work up to a full high 9
    * 3-5 balls with 7 iron (same as 9 iron, low flight to full high 7 iron)
    * 3-5 balls with 5 iron (same as 9 and 7)
    * 1-3 balls with 4, if first swing is hit well and where I'm aiming I move to 3 hybrid and do the same
    * 2-3 balls with 3 wood off a tee, then 1-2 from the ground
    * then driver anywhere from 4-8 driver swings, just depends how I'm hitting it that day, if 1st few shots are good I stop
    * 2-3 with 54* wedge
    If there's 1-3 balls left from my bucket or left behind by someone I try to hit 1-3 with PW cuz it's usually what my 1st approach into hole 1 is.

    Then putt-chip-pitch. Luckily we have a really big practice green that's never busy, usually empty.
    * So I do 8 balls from like 3-4ft circle around 1 hole, then do it again from like a 6ft circle with 8 balls. Then hit 3 balls uphill from each 15ft, and 30ft, then downhill 30ft, and 15ft, 3 balls each.
    * Then hit about 4-5 balls to 3 different distances with 54*, then 9 iron, then 50*
    * Lastly 6-10 balls from a very short sided area with my 58*

    LOL it sounds like a lot when typing it but it doesn't take long.

    Hahahaha I was thinking the same when i got to the end, alot of typing but sounds like a good routine. Nice one
  7. Really like this thread. When I play golf I rarely have time to putt. We just get straight to it. A few dry practice swing and bam! Tee shot.

    I arrive about 1 hour prior to my tee time and check in right away. First to the practice green, long-mid range putts and a few chips, just enough to get a feel for the greens. Then stretch, on the range small bucket of balls at the very most, a few each of SW pitches, PW, 7 and 5 or 6 and 4 irons (iron choices depend on what I expect to hit the most on the course), 3W, driver, ending with a simulation of the first hole, hit a tee shot followed by an approach. Back to the practice green, now with short putts to get the confidence up, sometimes putting to a tee which makes the hole seem massive on the course.

    Warm up. Hit a few balls; a nine iron, a hybrid on my home course. Not more than about a dozen balls. Few chips and a dozen putts, mostly long range for feel, make sure to make two putts from about ten feet and go. Whole purpose is to loosen up. If I am at another course, I may hit a 7 iron and driver instead of the hybrid.
  11. My warm up routine is pretty simple. Stretch for a bit first. Then I will swing my 7i to hit a few shots 10-15, work my way down to my 56 then back up to a 5i. I'll finish it off with about 5-8 swings with the 3W. All of it can be done for me in a typical small bucket. After that I will go to the practice green and try to hit about 20-25 putts from 3'-4' and then try for a few longer. Off to the first tee after that.

    My pre-round warmup is focused on getting my body ready to play, so I always start with a short series of stretches to start the loosening up process, then I'll hit the range to hit several shots that may be required on the first two or three holes. By the time I've finished hitting the shots I'm usually pretty loose and then it's off to the practice green to hit some long lags to get the green speed dialed in. After that it's off to the first tee.
    So there are two factors that have an impact on my warmup...time of year and time of day. When it's hot my warmup takes less time, whereas with cool/cold weather it takes longer. In the morning my warmup takes longer because my body may not fully "awake", whereas in the afternoons it takes less time since I've been fairly active all day.

    I keep it reallysimple:

    I don't hit the range before I play fun golf. I mostly stretch from head to toe, I'll hit about 20 chips & 20 putts, I baseball swing 2 clubs together briefly to loosen up my core so I rotate properly on the first tee.

    Before a tournament I stretch then I hit 1 wedge, 1 mid-iron, 1 hybrid or fairway then driver. About 20-25 balls total then I'll go putt & chip before the tournament starts.

    Depending how late it is in the season no more than a few swings on the range. Main focus is stretching, keeping yourself fresh and flexible is a main component in the game of golf.
  15. If I’m playing my home course I’ll hit a couple dozen balls on the range. Start with some nice and easy 7s to warm up, smack a couple with the driver then finish with some wedge shots.
    I spend most of my time pre-round on the chipping and putting green. Nothing worse than blading a chip across the green on #1 or leaving 10 footer, 3 ft short.
  16. Putting and chipping for a about 30 mins going from long to short putts.

    Warm up with a few balls from short clubs to long , ending with the club a want to hit on first tee.

    The key to warm up is to get loose and a feel for where the ball is going thay day.

    No correcting or working on your swing during warm up. Basically find the swing you have today and work with it

    1st Stretch, especially the shoulders and hip flexors. Next, a weighted club for about 20 swings then, just a shaft feeling the "whoosh" after impact. Practice short putts for 5 minutes, then 20 foot putts. Then, 20 short irons, 10-20 mid irons, 10-20 long irons, 10 3-woods, 10 Drivers.

    I usually hit the gym before a round so I'm warmed up.
    As for at the course, I try to at least chip and putt for 30minutes before every round.
    If the range is hitting off mats I will hit 5 balls with DRIVER that's it........(I injured my left elbow ligaments hitting off mats a couple of years ago) if I can hit balls off grass I will hit 2 BALLS with each club , then chip and putt. ...madgolfer..hitemstraight

    I take a few warm up swings with my stretch pole and continue with a series of back and shoulder stretches. If time allows, I'll take a few practice putts. May sound strange to everyone but after playing this game for 60 years I do the following if I can't get a range warmup.:

    On the first few holes, I'll use one club more on my second shot with a slower swing. After that my body is relaxed enough to start the normal club choice and swing speed. I do the same off the tee. A bad drive on the opening hole will not get me started on the right track. After a few holes, I'm pretty much warmed up to my normal swing speed and able to "let out the shaft"on the Driver and settle in on normal approach shot routines.
    BTW If you haven't tried a Stretch Pole, give it a whirl.

    I usually just chip and putt. I have a swing sock, which is a weight that you can attach to the head of a club, and I start swinging it slow and gradually get faster until full speed.
