  1. I just ordered my set of 712's a week ago and requested to KBS tour shafts. I have been playing these on my current irons and I'm as happy as a lark. This weekend I saw the new KBS shafts that are riffled and wondered what the differences are, can anyone tell me the ups and downs of both?

The new shaft for KBS are the C Taper shafts. I have just had them fitted to my MP 63's. I also played the KBS Tour S flex. the C Taper is played by Steve Stricker. they have a slightly lower ball flight, they are 120 grams vs 130 and they are slightly stiffer. I think it is the best shaft I have ever played. they feel soft but the ball flight is amasing and gained slight distance. my objective is to get a lower ball flight and consistancy. if you have ordered the normal KBS Tour S you will not regret this. they are also great shaft. I have taken almost 2 months to get my fitting right. I will play with these clubs and shafts for the next4 to 5 years. they key is to ensure your lofts and lies are correct. My lofts work fifferent. I start 4 iron at 24 degrees then with standar 4 degrees more down to my PW 48 degrees wegdes Miura 53 and 57 degrees. also KBS C-Taper my irons are MOI weighted at 1785. I play yhe 910 D2 Driver, 15 Fd, 17H, and 21 909 H all fitted with Accra Dymatch Shafts. not supplied by Titleist. So in short. The C Taper is a fantastic new shaft.

The KBS C-Tapers help lower the spin and trajectory. These shafts are designed for high spin and high launch players. It is the complete opposite of the KBS tour shaft in regards to design characteristics. Both are great shafts and to help to put that in better perspective the Project X and Dynamic Gold shafts would be in the middle of them on a fitting chart graph in terms of spin and trajectory. Its always best to find a fitter and get custom fit. Good Luck and hope this helps.

The key question is why did you select the KBS Tour? the reason I ask is that I spend a lot of time reeding Golf Bloggs and postings and get very upset when people who are not skilled golfers or fitters making statements that this club or that shaft or ball is better then the next one. the fantastic thing about Golf and the technology is that you have to find what works for you. I recently read a bold statement by a 16 handicap golfer that KBS shafts are just a fad that will fade in the next few month! well look at the tour players who use them. same with the new DG Tour issue. My point. dont order clubs with shafts if you have not gone for a propper fitting session.
