  1. I am looking to switch from my old swoosh putter to a Scotty, but not sure which one to get. I am a pretty good golfer and keep all of my rounds in the 70's, and have recently switched to all Titleist clubs and am very happy. So my question to you guys is which is the best one out there, am I left handed it is hard for me to try any out at the golf shops? Which ones should I have the golf shop bring in for me to try?

    Hi Jimmy,

I too use all Titleist clubs. I currently have 6 scotty's, each a different style. My gamer at the moment is a 35" Kombi S. I had to get one after seeing how much better Adam Scott's putting from close range got with his Kombi S broomstick.

My personal favourite though is my trusty old Terrylium Newport. I have a pal who is a lefty and he has one too and putts awesome. Find one of these on ebay or in a bargain barrel and you'll love it too.

Another favourite of mine is the Red X. It all depends on if you prefer a blade or mallet. You can't go wrong with any Scotty, he is simply the best!

    Good luck with your search.

The main choice you need to make is face balanced or toe down.

I use face balanced. The kombi S has the front half of a traditional Newport with a tail added. The line helps you set up swuare to the line and the weight helps the putter swing without rotating (moment of inertia).  As a physicist, this is my favorite putter right now.

If you want traditional looks, the newport 2.7 is face balanced.  I have one of those I keep around the house for practice.

My son uses a Red X and loves it.  Also face balanced.  I may get one to play with.

if you're a toe down guy, the traditional newport is probably the most popular scotty ever.

Each scotty is weighted to match the length to create consistent swing feel.  Buy the right length for you.

    Good luck,

    Jerry

    Jimmy,

I have had an Anser 2 then went to the Rossie full mallet and then to the Rossie 2.  Had a White Hot XG 1 for a few years because the mallets weren't working for me.

Just traded mine in on a Newport 2 and had it fitted for me because i needed the Lie bent more on it for how i set up.  Now it's money i lag it so much closer or make the putt more than ever.  the weighting is awesome.

definitely get it fitted after you try a few out.  Hit up a Golf Galaxy or something like that to test drive them.

    Good Luck

I am also a left handed golfer, and currently have a california series del mar and I enjoy it.  I would suggest just finding somewhere where you can try some and figure it out that way.

    Thanks,

    Ben
