Ordered the D3 WITH the Aldila RIP and cant wait for it. Do the swing weight kits make that big of a deal??

Also, you would think that the smaller head would be a d2, being the smaller number. I actually ordered the d2 thinking it was smaller, but luckily i bragged up my new order and stood corrected!

    Jarrod,

Swingweight kits are just for FEEL preferences; lighter or heavier feel.  Adjusting the weight screws will effect ball flight not very much.  Loft of club, type of shaft, and head type are the major factors in your ball flight. Good luck with your new 910D3!

    Jarrod,

I have had my D3 with the RIP for a couple of months now. When I first got it, it came from the factory set at A-1 and was sweet. However, we always want a little better so I experimented. I tried B-2, slight draw bias, and  had too much draw without a full release. I went to B-1, slightly open, and found that to be better than A-1 as I do have a strong release or at least wanted a strong release as as left grip V points at my right ear. (For reference, 10 years ago I had a 3 knuckle left grip with my V point at the right shoulder.) My weight kit came in after 3 weeks; so, I experimented again. I ended up an insert of 9 grams, two grams above the 7 standard. Did it make a difference? Absolutely! Was it necessary, probably not. However, I am better able to feel the club head starting with the waggle all the way thorough the swing. One of my problems with all the latest big headed drivers compared to my persimmon was the lack of feel of the club head throughout the swing. One thing I liked about the D3 coming from the factory was that it had some feel in the head. However, with just this 2 gram increase, I find the feel more to my liking. As an aside, it also gave me a little more draw bias with my open face B-1 setting. My driver release now matches up with my iron release. Bottom line, it all comes down to feel and personal preference. Is the weight kit a requirement for everyone? Surely not as the standard factory weight is neutral and does give more feel than other drivers I have tried. Does a change in swing weight make a difference. Absolutely! By the way, the weight kit comes with one of each, 2 - 5 - 7 - 9 - and 12 gram weights. I understand they are usable in the 3 wood also. Good luck and straight driving.

  4. I hit my  D3 driver for the 1st time tghis weekend. I was fit for the 60g RIP shaft, stiff and the A1 setting. I moved the setting to D1 for a lower loft and I killed the 1st drive and drove the green on a short par 4.

I originally bought a TM R11 but was very unhappy with it. I switched to the D 3 and I am in heaven, especially with the RIP shaft. What a killer combo for me.....I love me some Titleist D3 with the RIP Shaft!!!!
