I went from 962's DGS300 to 990B rifle 6.5 1/2 inch long, what a difference. Now I can play the ball forward in my stance, take a nice divot, swing a little more vertical, and using 2 irons shorter club.

The ball seems to keep going up forever, looks like it will be way too long but comes down where I wanted.

I was worried about the rifle 6.5, might be too much shaft for me, but I've got no problem with them.

Went out yesterday afternoon for 9 during a break in the rain, hitting greens like never before, I guess it is easier using 2 clubs shorter.

Went out this morning, didn't hit the greens but I was real close, the wind was up again today, calm yesterday afternoon.  Started on the back 9 and the winds were pretty darn strong(besides the flash flood warnings, today we have been under a tornado watch), we tried to play anyway, then the rain came, it was unbearable.

Tomorrow is supposed to be much better, but the course is still going to be soaked.

The rifle 6.5 aren't too stiff, the extra 1/2 inch seems to fit real nice, and I don't feel the shock like I did the 962's until I put sensicore in them.  I don't know if it is the shaft or more mass behind the impact spot, but so far I don't think I'll need sensicore.

The 962's I had to play back in my stance, I hit 6i for 150y. The 990B's forward in my stance, 8i for 150y. This is great.

Hopefully the wind will be calm tomorrow and I can get a good 18 hole test.

I had been thinking the distance increase might be due to the shafts, but I remembered these distances are about the same as I hit my blades which have DGR300, about 1/8 inch shorter than the 962's. So I think it is due to being able to play the ball forward in my stance combined with the way I swing the club.

It seems the 6.5 in longer irons might be a bit stiff for me.

I had only been using 6-8(6 on a couple par 3's), but I started using less club off the tee to make my approach longer so I could use a longer club in to the green.

I was worried that my 4i might be longer than my 585.h 21*, nothing to worry about. I changed the way I swing it to match the way I swing the irons, forward in stance. But the 5 and 4 are still longer than the 962's, the 4 is a little longer than the 962 3i.

I also have to change my driver from 983K to 907D2 because the 907 works best this way of swinging.

The 9 and pw are hard to zero in on because they really go high and the wind is extra bad on them. But on hole 1 I was 140 from center of green and hit 9i, the ball went way up and the wind carried it way left and landed off the green about 5y short of center.

The pw is great for 50-60y pitches, with my standard pitching swing the ball stays lower and spins more. With a ProV1 the ball stops in about 4ft, other balls that usually roll off the back stop in about 10ft, this is great.

The ball flight of the 962's looked like the ball would go up until a little after half way then come back down at about the same angle. The 990b's it appears like the ball goes up all the way to the green then drops straight down, it looks like the ball will fly way past the target. This will take some getting used to.

I guess its time to move back a tee.
