About 18 months ago I ordered a custom set of AP2s with 85gm Aldila graphite shafts hoping to gain back some lost yardage due to aging.  Was playing DG 300S.   I did gain back the yardage, but as some predicted, I have lost consistency, especially with line.  I tend to be a bit quick at the top at times and this is when I loose it.  I'm 52 years old, Hdcp 5.  7 iron 150 yards.  I love the clubs but am considering reshafting with Project X 5.5.  Is this something Titleist will do if I return the clubs and if so, how much will I pay per reshaft?  Other option is to sell and re-order, but my clubs are in perfect condition.

Titleist will for sure reshaft the irons for a cost, however I think you would benefit from a fitting because the 3 shafts that you have listed there are very different from one another. A fitter will be able to get you a shaft they is the best of both worlds, dispersion and distance. From what you are saying it sounds like you should look at something like the DG SL shaft or an NS PRO shaft because they are more of a middle ground in weight between regular steel and graphite and could give you some added distance without loosing too much control.

Thank you Matthew.  I agree with your suggestion.  I actually did get fitted for these irons, twice.  It seems when I am on the range, I can find the temp and groove, but when I get on the course I struggle, especially when I need to go after one a little harder than normal.  I used to hit my best shots with an agressive move and now I'm almost afraid to go all out.  I have hit the PX 5.5 and they do feel a touch lighter than the DG S300. My thinking is that I need a heavier shaft but not as heavy as DGS300.  Do you think the SL may give the same result as the graphite?  Of the two you mention, which do you think would you recommend??

I would recommend the DG SL shaft as it's a little lighter than the PX shaft but gives the stronger lower ball flight and can hold up on swings you want to go after it.
