Do a fitting and then decide. You might be amazed at what a current model properly fit to your swing will be like. It’s a very important club in your arsenal.

With all due respect to the 907 series (I played the D2), the D1 might be the worst looking, worst sounding driver Titleist has made in the metal wood era. I think you'll be really pleased with newer offerings, specifically the TSi2 - GT2 range. If you can go hit those, you'll absolutely find one that works and with the GTS line coming out, the previous models won't break your wallet.

I just recently upgraded my 917 D2 to a TS3. So I will have to let you know when I try it out!

Good for you for getting a fitting. I hope it's a true outdoor Titleist fitting with all the optional shafts & heads. If you've never done it before, you'll be amazed at the difference it will make. Yes it can be pricy, but you seem like you're the kind of guy who considers it a long term investment.
