I took a TSi 3 wood head and put a driver shaft in it. I put a fairway wood adapter on the shaft and put the three wood head on the shaft. I hit it really good off of the tee on short par fours when accuracy is neede and hit it about 235 off of the fairway with a little fade. Has anyone else tried this combo? Thanks

  2. I tried something similar with a Ventus shaft in a 3 wood head last season. The feel was super stable off the tee, but I struggled a bit hitting off the deck, launch angle was lower than I expected. That said, 235 with a little fade sounds like you’ve dialed in a sweet spot for your game. Curious if it holds up under windy conditions or tighter lies.

This is interesting. Did either of you see a noticeable gain in distance, or ball speed if you had access to a launch monitor, between the standard shaft and driver shaft?

The shafts are interchangeable with the correct adapter for fairway vs driver. In a fitting some may prefer a heavier shaft of the same family in the fairway. The other aspect is shaft length. If the tipping is the same recommended by Titleist in each use case, then the overall length will impact use in the fairway. Note pros will use 44 inch drivers for striking accuracy, having a fairway being over the standard 43 inch, up closer to 44 or more will impact the lie and potentially the accuracy.
  5. For me, there is not much difference in distance between my 3 wood and 5 wood. So, I put the driver shaft in the 3 wood and now I hit the 3 wood about 15 yards further than the 5 wood. Have been doing this for about a year and it works for me.
