    Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know what the club head weighs for the D2 and D3 without the shaft?

    Thanks Everyone,

    Ben

The head weight is determined by what shaft and the length to get a final swing weight. That being said the head weight changes from head to head. Titleist takes a head and a shaft puts it all together at the correct length and grip, epoxies the shaft in and then once it's dry the last step is to swing weight it, they do this 2 different ways and sometimes use both....they can either change the SFT weight or inject the head with a rat glue type product. (they have used this product for a long time in most of the previous models and continue to do so with the 910 series)

What you described is the finished weight of the "club" itself (head + shaft + grip, etc.) However, a "bare" head still weighs something by itself.   I too am curious as to what the "bare" weight of the D2 and D3 head is.  I haven't been able to find that information anywhere.

What I described is the process, and in doing that it shows how the head weight of the driver depends on the specs and what swingweight is needed.  There are also manufacturing tolerances/differences on the heads and 1 raw head could weigh 10 grams different than another to start with the amount of polishing, thickness of the paint, clear coat differences in the SFT weight....even though the red ones I have in my clubs say 7 on them one of them is within a quarter of a gram but the other one is right at 6 grams.

All in all a rough guess is that a raw head before it's installed and injected with rat glue and without the SFT weight my guess would be that the head weighs somewhere between 180-200 grams

Thank you for help. Your insight was very helpful.

  6. Are you saying that you have a 20 gram tolerance in your manufacturing process?  That's a huge amount for a company that prides itself on precision craftsmanship.

I've Never seen a 910 D3 with anything other then a 7 gram (red) sft weight.  And by injecting a rat glue into the driver cavity gives me concern that the specs are different then engineered.
