  1. I am thinking of adding 7-P in the MB 620 to make my existing 718 AP2s into a combo set. I have looked at the gapping and the sets line up. Has anyone else done this? What were your thoughts and experiences. I am a 5 handicap and a good ball striker. I am 100% more concerned with distance control and shot shaping then distance and forgiveness when I get into these clubs.

Even the pros are slowly trending away from MB blades. While the T200/T350 might trade forgiveness for workability, irons like the T100 aren’t trading the same benefits. There is no question that the loss of distance and direction suffer more with a MB for off center strikes
Consider working with a fitter to see if the T100/T150 irons meet or exceed the experience of the MB. My own experience is empirical decisions rarely ever work as well as dynamic testing with an expert to go over the results. At that point, you’d have validation to go with the MB.

Even though on paper your lofts might seem like the right gaps, you may still have to adjust them to get the distance dialed in, but I wouldn’t imagine by much…

I have been playing combo irons for some time. In 2018, AP2 6 and 7 irons with Apex 8 and 9 irons. From 2020 until mid 2023 695CB 6 iron and MB 7-P. Up until about a month ago, played 716CB 7 iron (32*) and MB 8 iron (39*) with SM9 48-10 bent to 46 in place of 9 and P. I just upgraded to T200 8 iron (34.5*) and T100S 9 iron (39*). Over the weekend added a TSR1 9 wood and dialed in the shaft and headweight today.

I went from a full set of T100s' to a combo set of 620cb/mb for the same reasons. I decided to go with a whole new set since I was also upgrading shafts.

I have much better control over flight and distance. I am very happy with them and have been playing some of my best golf.
