  1. How similar are the new CB 710 irons to my old 690.CB's?

I played the 690.cb's for several years before making the switch to a combo set of 710mb/cb's earlier this year.  Little bit different look at address from the 690 but feel, workability, distance and trajectory are very similar.  I did have the 710s re-shafted with Project X after a few rounds with the stock S300 shafts and noticed an improvement.  Making the switch will not disappoint IMO.

Only issue for me with the 710s was the lofts/lies being way out of spec when I received mine from the factory.

Still love the 690CB.  Saving in the piggy bank for an upgrade to the 710s.   Using a 905T 9.5 driver, which is still sneaky long (275 to 320yds)  The new driver will definately be in the future.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm also thinking of a CB/MB combo set and am going to Titleist fitting centre next month so I'll be interested to see how that goes. I went from 690.CB's to the 735cm's and loved the combo set until they were stolen.

Bit worrying about the lofts/lies being out from the factory though!!

    Hey all,

Unless you have your clubs custom built to your specs, I would be concerned with any clubs loft and lie you buy off the rack from any manufacturer.  I bought a standard loft and lie set of clubs from another manufacturer and they were off by 1 to 2 degrees in both loft and lie.  And they came directly sent from the manufacturer.  My 3 iron came 3 degrees up right from their website standard and had to have my club builder bend it almost 5 degrees to the flatter to fit me.  I had to look away because I feared they woudl snap!

I just bought a custom split set of Titleist 3,4 iron 710 CB's and 5-P 710 MB's ordered 2 degrees flat in the 3-7 iron, 1.5 degrees flat in the 8 and 9 iron, and 1 dergee flat in the PW and they are spot on.  I am still going to bring them to my local club fitter to verify but compared to my current set, they are excatly where they need to be.  The first time I played with these irons, I shot my first round under par ending 1 under.  I now again have Titleist through out the bag and I am very pleased.

  6. John V - I understand where you're coming from but even if you get custom fit by Titleist there still isn't any guarantee then that the irons will have the correct lofts/lies. It's a concern that you then have to take them to an independent fitter to have them checked.

I'm going for an iron/wedge/driver fitting with Titleist next month and am now woriied that when I order them I'll have to go elsewhere to have them checked.

If you receive a set of Titleist irons that are not "in spec", please call us at Team Titleist.  Our number is: (888) TITLEIST.  We take pride in building the best performing, highest quality golf clubs built to your specifications and would certainly like to address your concerns.  All of our clubs go through mulitiple checkpoints and although errors occur infrequently, they can happen and we would like the opportunity to correct them.  We want to hear from you so we can continue to improve our processes and ensure  that you have the best golf clubs.

Thanks for your comments, it's re-assuring to know that clubs go through multiple checkpoints but from time to time errors do occur however infrequently. There's nothing anyone can do about human error and as long as someone is doing the best that they can I don't think you can ask for more than that and the fact that we call you if there's a problem is OK by me.
