  1. I am considering buying a 1I but I'm wondering if it would be a better idea to go with a Hybrid?

definitely hybrid. Noone plays a one iron anymore, not even pros. Balls today aren't designed to spin enough for you to hit one with a proper trajectory, you need those uber spinny balata balls. Never mind that they are REALLY unforgiving.

I agree with Mike - hybrid all the way.  The thought of trying to hit a 1 iron scares me.  Has anyone hit a good 1 iron shot since Jack Nicklaus?

I would say you hit it on the head for sure. why make the game more difficult than it needs to be

I thought hybrid clubs were for old folks and ladies... until I hit one.  Wow, I took my 3 iron straight out of the bag.

I hit my 3 well, and I liked it a lot, but the hybrid is more consistent, gives a higher ballflight, hits like a dream from the rough, and I have better workability with it.  I couldn't imagine trying to hit the knife let alone going back to my 3 iron again.  In fact I play 2 hybrids now.

    Hybrid all the way!

Hybrid 110%.  Easy to hit with very similar playability to an iron.  I'm a 3 handicap and use two hybrids to replace a 4 wood and 3-iron.  Love them both!  You can punch them out of the rough under trees (common for me) or hit it high and carve it into a tucked pin.

I agree with most everyone here. I would opt for a hybrid over a 1 iron any day. however i personally don't ply them. i have a 2 iron in the bag and love it. with the blade i poke that thing 265. no reason for hybrids. after i spent some time with the 2 iron i don't even touch the fairway woods anymore. I'm a 5 handicap and this is what works for me. if your swing speed is slower though, hybrids are a great choice. technology is so advanced why not take advantage of it???

    Well,

What do you do when you are in the middle of the course during a thunderstorm, and you have no where to go for cover? Hold up your 1-iron, because even God can't hit a 1-iron. But seriously, a hybrid is way better than a 1. Surprisingly I hit my long 3 and 4 iron very well, but I still keep two hybrids in the bag. Even though I hit my long irons good, I know i have no shot of hitting a 2-iron, let alone a 1-iron. The 909H is workable and forgiving, and good from just about any lie and I hope to get one soon. There is no real reason to get a 1 iron.
