Well... in a way this feels like a bit of a confession like you would do at church. But... forgive me for it has been a long time since I posted here, sinned and longer since I played Titleist.
I just want to say that after a bit of an absence from Titleist I am very happy to be back playing Titleist. I was fortunate to have attended the Team Titleist event that saw the launch of the 716 irons this past fall. Back then I was so impressed with the 716 line from top to bottom that I was really hoping to get lucky and get a set. Even though I loved the CB the most and can hit the MB just fine. Anyways, my luck would change and here I am now the happy owner of 716 irons.
I ended up going with the 716 AP1 5-PW and the stock XP90 shaft. All that I can say is that these are a tremendous improvement over the 714 AP1 that I previously had and was forced to part ways with. I love the look at address (the "shaved" top line) and the playability of these irons is really under rated as most seem to think that they are a straight up game-improvement iron. There is no doubt that they are indeed as advertised but I love the way that the ball comes off of them. Well struck shots emit a sound that is best described as "mean".
While I was at it I admit that I had gotten myself some new SM6 wedges. To round out my pre-planned AP1 purchase I went with the Steel Grey SM6 wedges in 48* F Grind, 52* F Grind (1* Weak) and a 58* M Grind. I love the feel of these wedges especially with them being a little heavier than stock. Through impact the feel is phenomenal and even though they have taken some getting used to from a distance control standpoint I am in love with the performance of these wedges. Mr. Vokey did himself proud.
I am so ecstatic to be once again a legitimate #TeamTitleist member.
