Well, since playing high school golf back in the 90s I always played the big Titleist competitor that starts with Cal and ends in way:) I got stationed (Navy) overseas for 2 years in Bahrain and didn't have much opportunity to play. I was rewarded with a follow-on duty station in Hawaii and was extremely excited to get back to golfing. Well...less than a month later I tore my ACL and had to have surgery...more bad luck. I'm still recovering (in fact I'm still now out of the woods yet...I'll need surgery again at some point as my repaired ACL is partially torn as a result of something unknown that happened during rehab/physical therapy ) but am able to golf again. I made a deal to myself that as soon as I worked out rust and broke 80 again I would replace my 15-year old irons with new used sticks. It took a few weeks but I met my goal...first, I tried some older AP2 712s and was thoroughly impressed. Then, luck was in my favor and a set of AP2 714s literally fell in my lap...incredible deal and outstanding shape. I've played a few rounds with them and I commend the Titleist engineers and equipment team on their design, feel, and accuracy. In other words...I love them. I've paired them with some SM5 Vokey wedges and, despite my messed up knee, am taking advantage of my opportunities to regularly golf again. I do have one complaint though...the clubs are too beautiful...especially when new/near new. Last weekend I left my first "wear" marks on the 4-iron sole and while they are minor...all I've felt is guilt...haha. Just a random comment on here...but those that are considering the 716s, or the 714s, 712s, or even 710s...and you are a decent golfer...you won't be let down. Heading up to play golf at the Kaneohe Marine Corps base tomorrow.
