  1. I have a student that is 6' 1". Strong athletic young man. Swing speed in upper 90's and a good ball striker. Ball flight is high (just like I like it) with a slight draw-to-straight. Need a suggestion on an iron shaft. Thank You Paul E. Powers, PGA Teaching Professional.

I'm the same height and flight the ball high as well with a little higher swing speed - Project X 6.0 has been great for me in my 714 Ap2's. Brought flight down just a little bit with a more piercing flight and tighter dispersion.

As you know, nothing beats getting fit. I went through a fitting and narrowed it down to Project X and Dynamic Gold x100 - Project X has been a good move for me. I highly recommend it.

    All the best!

I would look at the KBS - I have moved to that brand of shaft and it is working. It is bringing my flight down just enough - and gives the ball some nice bounce and spin on the greens.
  4. Wow! interesting case...since his ball flight is high and you do not plan on making adjustments to his swing I would certainly recommend the Dynamic Gold or Dynamic Gold SL, potentially the Dynamic Gold AMT. Another two candidate's could be the KBS C-Taper or Nippon Modus 130.

These all have very different "feels" so you would need to coordinate with your Titleist rep to get some test shafts to see which shaft your player likes the best.

I do not feel the Project X would work even though it could be considered a low flight shaft in certain frequencies. IMHO...

    Good Luck!

Chris92009 - I agree in that I did not even consider the Project X until I got fitted and it was the clear winner. It surprised me, but has worked well.

So many great options - makes getting a good fitting all the more important.

I would recommend the Dynamic Gold S300, the Dynamic Gold AMT S300, or KBS Tour. If he is to get fitted by any titleist fitter they will have these shafts and they are all no up-charge.

Most of my students and customers like AMT shaft the most as it gets 3 grams lighter from the Pitching Wedge (130g) to the 3 or 4 Iron (109g or 112g). This will produce high long irons. This shaft has been really hot on tour and has solid feel to it.

    Hope that helps.
