I was fitted for AP2 710s at my local Golfsmith. After a few measurements and swings the fitter determined I was standard all around. What wasn't sitting well with me was that on my sole tapes (5 in all) the exact middle of my marks were closer to the toe than directly in the middle. I'm no fitter by any means but I felt that even a one degree upright bend might help to bring the mark closer to the middle. Am I way off base here?

When fitting for lie angle, the final decision should be based on ball flight and preferred shot shape.   If your ball flight and shot shape are perfect with the standard lies, you may not want to change the lie to upright even though the tape showed that your impact was closer to the toe.   If, however, you are in the middle of a swing change and you and your pro are working to change your club path, posture, length and/or impact, you may want to change the lie to help you with the swing change.  There are a lot of different factors to take into account in addition to the impact tape.
