I am in the market for a new driver. My current driver is the 910 D3 9.5 degree loft with the Diamana White 70-X.
I have been waiting on the new 915 to come out to see how I like it. So, I decided to go to the golf store and keep an open mind the other day (wife was shoe shopping, so I went to the golf store) and see what other drivers are out there and compare them to the 913 since the new one was not out yet.
What caught me off guard was the really high spin rate I was getting from the 913. I was averaging about 3800 rpm, granted they did not have the same shaft I am using now so that number was probably high.
So like any normal person would do, I tried a bunch of other drivers while I was there. The guy was actually nice enough to give me a few recommendations after watching my number on the monitor. So, I found a driver that I was consistently hitting with under 2000 rpm (mostly about 1800). This produced a significant distance gain. It shocked me even.
My questions becomes, what can I expect out of the 915 and will it produce numbers much lower than the 3800 that I was getting with the 913? Or am I just bound to have a much higher spin rate with the 915 than with the club that the fitter suggested.
And my new plan is to take my 910 and compare the rates with it before I buy anything.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Joey
