THat probably doesn't make any sense so here is what happened. I bought a set of 714 AP2's recently and chose the 5 - PW. I had been thinking about picking up the 4 iron if I saw it in a golf shop. I just happened to recently and bought. A week later realized it was a new 712 AP2 4 iron. Not that I can tell a big difference but would you care?

  2. If it were me, and I was hitting the 4i well, it would stay in my bag. Don't let it bother you

I think it's a question of where your head is at. You've got a set of 714s that now has a 712 added to it. You likely have a preference for the newer clubs, and now that you've realized the difference, it might affect your game. Hey, it affected your thinking enough that you posted here about your issue... But, I'd hope you'd swung the 712 4 iron before you bought it. If you were striping it, I'd keep it in your bag. Don't let it become a head game issue.

    Hi Rick,

I wouldn't let it bother me.  The only thing that really matters is if you're ok with it? If not get a 714. But I don't think that you will find that big of a difference between the two performance wise.

HA!    Against the side of the wall and replace it with a hybrid!!!!

But I wouldn't let it bother you Rick.   As long as you hit it well keep it.    Plenty of people (including myself) have mixed bags and the AP2's compared to the AP1's are much more noticeable than 712 to 714.   But again, all that matters is how you hit it.

Only thing it should affect is the re-sale value of the set.

Just like the others, don't be concerned, especially if you are hitting it well.  Plus I don't see the big deal, doesn't seem to be a huge difference, still basically the same.
