So I just dropped a Mitsubishi Fubuki shaft into my 909 D2 and it is officially a rocket launcher.  I was killing it with the stock shaft but the Fubuki upgrade has been amazing. Adding even more distance and accuracy.  I was a huge fan of this driver before but now it will be hard to knock this out of the starting line-up for the 2010 season.

What do you find to be better about the Fubuki v. the VooDoo (I assume you had the VooDoo).  Have you tried the Diamanas?  I play the VooDoo right now (in a Callaway FT-9 Tour) and love it, but I'm sure if I keep looking I'll find something I like even more.  Prob going to get a D3 for this season though.

For me, I'm finding the ball flight to be a bit more penetrating with the Fubuki and I'm really digging the shot dispersion which is also a bit tighter. Did I mention the sick graphics on the shaft? :)

Don't get me wrong, the VooDoo is a sweet shaft and I have one in my back-up driver. The Fubuki is just doing the trick for me right now and I don't think it will be coming out of the bag anytime soon.

Definitely go for one of the 909 drivers...they are rocket launchers.

    I have 2 D3's (9.5 spined tour Voodoo -and- 8.5 Prolaunch Axis 60S) and 3 D2's (9.5 WB X, 9.5 Rombax proto X, 8.5 stock Voodoo).

I love the D2 WB and D3 tour Voodoo best, but they are completely different clubs.  I whale away on the D2 WB with a slight draw (no finesse necessary - just rip it).  I can't fade it, but sure can draw or hook it if needed.

Love the D3 because with the tour Voodoo it takes the left side completely out of play.  With my swing, this club just kills it with the tiniest power fade, which is amazing for a lot of courses.

Depending on the course, I switch between those mainly, but the others get occasional play.  But, I always go back to those two.

Mark - that is a sick line up. I also see a similar draw tendency with the 909 D2 Fubuki combo but as long as I'm finding the fairway I'm happy

  6. WOW, I'm really excited by all this because I just ordered a 909D2 with the Fubuki Alpha.  I hit the 909D2 during demo days and loved it but not the stock shafts.  I also hit the Fubuki in a Nike head, and loved the feel, so I ordered them together.  I currently plan the Diamana 83 blueboard, and hit it really well with my 105MPH swing, but going to the 65 gram shaft to gain 8 or 10 yards, who knows, maybe more.   I also like the idea that the Fubuki launches a touch higher than the blueboards.  I've never hit the Fubuki Alpha, but the Mitsubishi website says its even better than the original, so I figured I couldnt lose!  I cant wait!

You need to post pics once you get the 909 D2 with the new Fubuki in.  I couldn't be happier with my set up. I just put a Fubuki Tour Protoype  shaft into my 3-wood. Hands down one of the best shafts on the market.

did you send it in to titliest or do it your self

  9. I've ordered the shaft, and bought a used 909d2 to put it into.  I was going to have it done and have them align the spine, but I saw on YouTube some videos on how to align the spine yourself, so if I can do that part myself, I'll probably just build the whole thing.   I wont cut the butt until I hit a bucket of balls with it and take some high speed video to ensure the shaft is kicking at the right time, just in case I have to tip it some. .

Thanks for the info. I am looking into a new driver and a strong shaft is a must. My current set up is a 905T with a tipped Grafaloy Blue.  Best set up I have ever had. It is just time to prepare for an upgrade while I can.

  11. Just some info on the Fubuki Alpha, after my round today (Northville, Michigan- where it was a whopping 42 degrees with wind gusts of 25mph at 7am, with slight traces of snow in the air by the 7th hole), I took my mew shaft and a slightly used 909 D2 to the local pro fitting shop to get the spine aligned.  They are pretty reputable and know what they are doing.  Anyway, they told me that there is no need to spine align this shaft, because the shaft is of such high quality that they cannot find the spine on them.  This goes for the blue, white, and whiteboard shafts as well.  So I went home, warmed up, and installed a grip and the shaft.  Tomorrow we will see if this is truly a bomber.  I sure hope so, because on a hole today where I normally hit driver and 8 iron, it was driver and 3 iron into the wind!!!  Anyone down south, please send warm air up here.

  12.  Well, I'm not sure I'm experiencing the same results as PARSHOOTER.  Have hit a bucket and played 18 today with my 909D2 with the new Fubuki Alpha 65 Stiff, and I'm not seeing consistency.  For good measure on a few holes today, I pulled my old Nike SQ Tour 9.5 with Blueboard 83 Stiff and hit it long and straight.  I suspect my swing is a little thrown off by the weight change.  It seems I cannot go after it like I can with my older club and keep it in the fairway.   Given I'm right on the edge of a Stiff and X, and given my blueboard 83 Stiff is likely stiffer than the Fubuki, I'll visit the clubfitter this weekend to see if we should tip it some.    An interesting and expensive project.   My swing is fairly aggressive with a late release, so I suspect I need some stiffening in the shaft.

I"M OPEN TO ANY AND ALL IDEAS !!!    HELP !!!  and thanks in advance! .....Rob

  13. I couldnt agree more with ParShooter!  I put a fubuki alpha stiff into my 909D2 but was losing a lot of shots high and right.  After visiting Golf Tec in Novi Mich, and getting some advice from them, and knowing I was exactly in between stiff and X per the Mitsubishi website, and also given that my blueboard 83 stiff was likely stiffer than the fubuki, I decided to tip the shaft 3/4 of an inch.  WOW, what a difference it made.  I agree this thing is a bazooka.  In two rounds, I've out driven guys who used to blow it by me by 20-30 yards on many occasions, and i've already visited the 300 yard club a handfull of times.  On those mishits, it still seems to straighten out very nicely as well.  Its also very workable both ways.  I've had 2 excellent driving rounds and I believe the best is still yet to come.

Its amazing that it launches high but then flattens out insteady of balooning skyward which gives it (in my opinion) a great landing angle that gives me additional yardage after it comes down.  I dont know how they do that, but this combo is perfect for me at least.  I've just picked up a 909F2 and another Fubuki alpha to throw into it.  Watch out Par 5's !!!    Now If I could just get those pesky chips inside the leather, I might be a parshooter as well!

Great to hear you're having the same experience. I seriously couldn't be happier and dropped a Fubuki Tour Prototype into my 3-wood. I had that shaft tipped 3/4 of an inch as well...it is butter. Keep bombing them!

  15. Parshooter,

Did you put a stiff or X in your driver?   The mitsubishi site says to trim for a 3 wood 1/2 inch.  You said you did your 3 wood 3/4 inch.  I'm thinking with my stiff shaft, I should do a touch more than what the website says since I had to trim my stiff driver shaft to effectively get it in-between Stiff and X.  I'm thinking of 3/4 inch to start and leave the shaft a touch long just in case I have to do more, just to be safe.

I went 3/4 inch on the 3-wood because it was a pull from a driver. It is definitely a bit more on the x-stiff side but I seem to be getting the ball to do what I want it to do, so I'll go with it for now.
